fifi - is that the one that projects pictures on the ceiling/wall? I've seen that one and it looks like just the kind of thing I want. Is it musical too?

We have the Winnie the pooh pictures on ceiling thing. It doesn't eat batteries particularly because only the little light bulb uses the batteries the tune and moving part is wound up by hand. I have used it on both my kids and they loved it. A good feature is that the light goes off before the music stops which means the change is gradual and doesn't wake a dozing baby.

We got one from Toys R Us for about £12, it projects an image onto the ceiling and plays a lullaby. My son loved it and my sister in law has one for her son.

oooh love the idea of a lava lamp! Also I have some toysrus vouchers so that one sounds good too. my ds just loves watching his clown mobile go round but that is all it does and I think he is the sort of baby who would love watching shadows thingies. iyswim! Thanks for your help.
btw the toysrus one - any more details?

Never had anything like that for any of my three.

Bed is for sleeping as far as I am concerned. Whats the point of lights/music flashy things etc when you want them to switch off and shut their eyes and go to sleep?

They will go to sleep if tired, can be a difficult thing to get them out of too I've heard as they can become reliant on it.

yes its the one thats got the pictures projected on the ceiling. You can set it for how long you want it to go on for, i think its upto 15 mins, but the batteries last ages. You can also change it to just have the music or just the pictures. It is musical, its lovely and relaxing
