Sleep

Why am I so impatient?

I usually feed 5mo DS to sleep both for naps and during the night. It's always worked for us and I suppose I should just be happy with that.

But the other reason I do it is for some reason I seem to have NO patience for any other method! I have tried rocking him to sleep over my shoulder (he doesn't like being cradled) and when I do he usually wriggles and grunts and kicks against me, which drives me MAD!!! DH manages to rock him to sleep and says the wriggling is just him getting comfy, but literally after about 2 minutes of it I can feel the most intense angry frustration rising and I want to lose my shit!!!!! So I end up either putting DS down safely and leaving the room for 5 mins or just stick him on the boob to get him to sleep.

I'm posting not because I am necessarily too worried about feeding to sleep, but rather is my reaction normal or completely OTT??! It's not even like DS is crying!! It's just the wriggling and pushing against me seems to invoke fury out of nowhere even in middle of day when I don't feel obviously tired or anything and I don't understand why!!!

I am the same with my dd, she is also 5 months and lately i feel really annoyed tryimg to get her to sleep when she just keeps wriggling and hitting me.
I've been giving up at nap times and taking her out in the pram because I'm too impatient which then makes me feel rubbish because I'd prefer it if she could setttle without being on the move!

I fed both mine to sleep for well over a year. It worked, why not?

In terms of evolution, it works so do it. Mine is over a year and she's still doing it. I reckon at some point, whether that's next week or in a year we'll offer her milk in a cup before bed but until she's ready for that im going to crack on

If you're getting angry with him a lot, it could be PND. Speak to the GP ?
