My 18 month old dd has always been a good sleeper, goes down no problem and sleeps through only problem is she wakes up every day at 5am! I've tried putting her to bed later, which didn't work as she either fell asleep downstairs or she woke up at the same time anyway! I've also tried giving her a later nap and that didn't work either help! 5am is just evil!

In my experience (only one child) it's a summertime thing and the only thing we could do was just cope with it.
We needed to keep sensible bedtimes as DS turned into spawn of the devil without them. Blackout blinds were helpful. Some books and toys in the cot to play with in the morning, maybe a sippy cup with some water.
by the time was 3 we'd trained him to stay in his room until 7, and he still does so now (aged 9).

Is she yelling to get up at 5 or is she just chatting and awake if she is fine leave her Yy to toys in. Cot and black out curtains/blinds 5 am is indeed evil

She's in a bed with sides and she has a gate on her door she will come to the gate and moan and shake it u till I come, this morning she thought 4.30 was morning so I left her and she just started to make a lot of noise and wake up my ds! She used to fall back asleep once I used to take her downstairs but she doesn't anymore and by 7/8 she's so grumpy and I can't do anything for her!

I used to get into a single bed with dd1 but your DDS bed sounds to small with the sides could you take her into bed with you are just keep putting her back to your bed

I feel you pain. At 20mo ds starts every day at 5am, as well as being up several times a night! I've tried black out blinds, drinks, toys, books, Netflix... nothing will induce him to settle. Brew

We did:
Cut nap to max 1.5 hours and ending no later than 2pm
Trying later bed (didn't work but did when they were older)
Stick on blackout blind, blackout curtains and blackout blind
And when all else failed I just got used to going to bed earlier, kind of shifting my day.

I've tried putting her back in her bed, she keeps getting up, if I bring her into mine then she will just walk around my room wrecking the joint, she used to go back to sleep downstairs if I put the telly on, which I didn't mind cus then I got an extra hour but she doesn't do this anymore! Ahh can not wait for the day she's a teenager and doesn't want to wake up lol

I would take sides off bed. She has gate on door anyway. Then if she wakes early she can play alone in her room.

My almost 2year old has been doing this the last few months. I found earlier nap and shorter has helped. At home he is now tired around 11am ish so can nap for 35-50mins and that is it for the day. He then sleeps until after 6,20am. When he goes to childminder he naps after lunch for 1-2hr, he then tends to wake 5ish the following morning

Artandco the sides are only partially on her bed about halfway so she can get out

In that case, I would go in at 5am and try to encourage sleep again. If she won't, then give her some board books in bed, and leave some quiet toys nearby she can play with. Move everything else out of tech so she can't trash the room. Just a few toys like board books, teddy/ soft doll/ basic wooden puzzle. Then she can look at books herself and play whilst you doze still.

You might have to start off with trying to get her back to sleep 5-5.30am. If she won't then encouraging looking at books alone in bed or playing for just 15 mins. Once she understands she can do this and happy to do 15 mins, you can gradually increase time she plays alone.

Hopefully this will means 5-5.30am is trying to get her back to sleep, then if not 5.30-6.30am you can doze in bed whilst she plays safely

Keeping a track on this. Whatever time she goes to bed. My DD will wake between 5am and 5:30am!
