Which nap to drop (2-1 transition)?

DD is only just over 10 months now but is tending to have only one nap at nursery three days a week (she still has two at home the rest of the week). I think we might need to move towards only one nap as a general regime in a month or two's time.

How should I aim make this transition? Her current 'good day' involves waking between 6-7 (lately more like 7 ), having a 40 mins nap around 10 and another longer nap around 1 (to 2.45) pm. Just lately she is not quite so tired at 10 so is tending to take that nap a little later.

So, should I be aiming to cut short the morning nap to establish the longer later nap as her only sleep, or should I follow the lead in pushing back her morning nap to 11 and later, let her have longer, and hope this sees her through?

Any advice?

when J was 9.5 month - more or less 10, we cut down to 1 nap, he's up for 7/8 sometimes if i'm real lucky later on, anyhow, i've moved his am nap back to 11am, which he'll have 1.5 hours for and is then ready for bed come 6.45, and will then go straight around.

it's pushed his lunch back a bit but it's working well for us.

the only reason I stoped the extra nap tbh was cos he was waking earlier and earlier plus during the night, but on the odd days when he only had the one nap he slept right round so that's what we did. hth.

Give her the nap at home at the same time she has it at nursery, then she'll be in a routine. Try and fit in lunch before/after as nursery do it.
