Getting a baby to nap in the cot

Ds is 9 weeks and my second baby. With dd I made the mistake of rocking her to sleep. This continued until my mil babysat one day at 5 months and just put her down and she self settled.

At the moment he will sleep in the pram or car seat when out as I am out most mornings and will settle well at night in the cot. He can sleep in his vibrating bouncy chair during the day too.

I've tried to put him down drowsy in the cot during the day. What are you supposed to do if he cries? I've tried to sooth him without picking him up. What if he continues to cry? Pick him up to calm then put him down again and repeat? Then it starts to become too much like pupd technique surely which I've read is too stimulating for very young babies. I really don't want to start the whole rocking thing and having a toddler, I don't have the time.

Any advice welcome. Thank you

I didn't put my DS in his cot for daytime naps that young. He was always in the moses basket. I don't really have any advice, but I understand you not wanting to rock him.

Hopefully a MNer with some advice will be along soon Smile
