Sleeping in the bouncer??

Hi! I was just looking for a little advice here.

I've read that it's not advisable to allow baby to sleep in the car seat or the bouncer, but the boy (he's 6 weeks) goes down, and to sleep, on his own in the vibrating bouncer chair. I take him upstairs in that and let him carry on sleeping until he wakes up in the night for a feed. I try to have him sleep on his back after this, but it's hit and miss whether he'll go to sleep or start yelling. He pretty much spends most of the day (if we're home all day) in the bouncer, too.

I've tried propping him up a little more in the cot, I have a wedge to keep him up, but it hasn't made much of a difference, I've used a sleep positioner (albeit a flat one) on top of that which keeps him in position but his top half up a little more. No avail. He'll only go to sleep on his back if he's in a particular mood.

How bad is it really to let him sleep and relax in the bouncer? Is there anything I can do to make it better?

The danger is in the position of the head. It can slump and restrict the flow of oxygen.

I must admit my DD did nap in the bouncer, but it was one that had two positions so it was always in the flatter position for sleeping.

The bouncer can let the baby's head fall forward cutting off air supply so they shouldn't sleep in it unless you are supervising. I know it's a pain but stick with helping him to get used to his bed, he's still very young. A Sleepyhead or Cocoonababy can be a big help. I found white noise helped to keep mine asleep whilst transferring them from the bouncer to cot.

He seems to be flat enough to where his head is tilted back, ish, in a natural position, his chin isn't against his chest as it is in the car seat (but, don't worry, I don't use the car seat!) It's a second hand (from my dad) bouncer so it's not very upright. I thought the main issue was in the spinal position?

What could I do, theoretically, to make it safer?

I am working, though, on putting him in the cot more and more often, but it's easier to leave him in it from the evening nap until he wakes up again, to at least give myself three hours of sleep. It's difficult as he seems to have pretty bad gas, so keeping him upright is really preferable until I can get to talk to the HV.

I have the babymoov cosydream, which does a similar thing, I think?
