how many naps 6/7 months having?

DS is almost 7 months. Getting to that awkward point where he's really hard to get down for a 3rd nap but sometimes second nap is done by 2.15/2.30 and he settles for bed 6.30/6.45. Evenings are grizzly and tired and can't take him for a quick drive as have older dd. Do I try and enforce third nap no matter the level of protest or is it best just to hang on to bedtime? Nervous of an earlier bed than 6.30 as he wakes early anyway.

What time is his first nap? My ds is 6.5 months and he has two naps at c. 10am and 2pm. He then goes to bed at 7pm. He also wakes up at 7/7:30 am. But we also have some trouble with night waking - usually twice at around 2am and again around 5am. But ds seems to be happy with the amount of sleep he's getting. Confused Grin

About 9.15 after we drop DD at school - he can't manage any longer as he's usually up by 6.15/6.30. Next nap 1ish. Like today he woke at 2.15 after going to sleep at 1.15. He's been rubbing his eyes and grizzling a so ive put him down but he's putting up a pretty serious protest. I usually end up patting him to sleep for like a 20 minute snooze but I feel if I don't then bedtime is so far away and he's a mess

He has recently started to sleep through from 6.30/6.45 until around 6am which is excellent but night waking have been frequent until a couple of weeks ago

My ds is 7.5 months and has 3 naps roughly

9.15-10.15
12.30-2.30
4.30-5.00

Bed 8pm

They do vary a bit though. Occasionally he misses his 3rd nap but he needs it and is so grumpy without it.

I expect eventually he will drop the 3rd nap and go to bed earlier.

Do you think your ds might be getting overtired? Sometimes my ds can have his 3rd nap as early as 4pm so perhaps shifting it a bit earlier?

I think the difference is that my baby has a comfortable awake time of 2hr45 - 3 now. So whereas your baby will still go every two hours I don't stand a chance! He was awake for 4.5 hours before bed today- I just couldn't get him to sleep for a 3rd time despite my best effort

I'm suddenly having nap problems and early night time wakings with my 7 month old. She was napping 3 times:

6:15 awake
8am nap for 45mins/hour
11:30 nap for an hour, sometimes more
15:00 nap for half hour
19:00 bed

Now it's a real battle to get her to nap and she is refusing the third one despite being tired and yawning.

We're also getting early night time wakings when she has never done this before so assuming this is connected.

However, Calpol helps so maybe she is teething?

Who knows!!?

Three naps at that age. Mine always had a later bedtime though. Roughly :

8.30am wake
10.30-11.30 nap
2-4pm nap
6.30-7pm nap
9-10pm Bed

I would love to have a later bedtime but if either of my children fall asleep after 6pm they just don't wake up! And they're knackered whatever time they last slept. I think we are firmly at 2 based on today: one at 9.10-10.30 and then just got him down again at 1.30
