I think although I could be wrong about 2.75 hours...according to my book! Although the books all vary...!

The answer depends on:

(a) If baby has the development to extend daytime naps past one sleep cycle (this change happens between 5m and 7m so you could be either side of this change)

(b) How much sleep baby is getting at night. A baby sleeping solidly for 12 hours a night will need less daytime sleep than a baby getting 10 hours of broken sleep.

What is your routine currently?

My DD never sleeps solidly its always been broken sleep some nights its 10 hours some night 11 or 12 hours broken sleep. The past 2 days she currently only seems to be having 2 naps a day at an hour each time, she is still napping in her bouncer or in my arms (i know this is bad) i do need to start trying to put her in her cot for naps.

Absolutely Holly. Now her daytime naps have extended, it is time to start moving them into her cot. Developing some good in-cot settling techniques will help both night time sleep and daytime naps.

I'd say your hour naps are a bit short for a baby on 2 naps a day. Either see if you can extend the naps further and aim for two naps of 2 hours (or 1h30 at least). Or alternatively move the timing of the 1h naps and fit in 3 naps per day rather than 2.

When my DD was first transitioning to 2 naps a day she would occasionally also need a shorter teatime powernap in addition to her two longer naps.

Thanks Fate - i did think that probably wasnt enough sleep. I have tried extending naps in the past & i've always failed but i think i will try to fit 3 naps see how that goes. In regards to putting her in the cot for naps do you think i should put her down asleep or awake? and do i make the room dark?

Definitely awake. Not only is it hard work to put down an asleep baby, it also creates more problems in the long run.

I always make the room dark for daytime naps.
