My DD is now 11 weeks she currently has days where she just doesnt want to sleep. She gets unbelievably tired & grizzly but just wont settle down to sleep. Does anyone have any tips apart from the pram, car or bouncer? She does self settle for bedtime once i wrap her in her grosnug (soon to change to grobag) but daytime i dont seem to have much luck. Thanks!

Wow, you are so lucky that your LO settles at bedtime so well. My DS is also 11 weeks and I could have written this post myself. I have always put him in a sling for naps but it is killing my back now. So, When I can I have started a little nap routine. He usually get grizzly after an hour and a half to two hours of being awake so I try and get him ready when he enters the sleepy window. I put him in a gro bag and sing to him, or maybe change his nappy etc. . All in a low light in the bedroom. I let him nap in his basket. I have tried doing the shh pat method which seems to work well as I have to teach him to fall asleep whilst not on me due to back issues etc..so far it is going ok although can take me 10 to 20 mins to get him to sleep and he still only naps for 45 mins. I also have a little white noise maker but I try not to use it unless he starts crying a lot. Hope this helps and let me know how you get on x

Thanks Fifi...i wrapped her up today laid her in her basket with white noise & the curtains shut. She laid there for 30 minutes just looking around & cooing to herself so i gave up. Maybe i should of persisted a little longer...Confused x

30 minutes was nothing when DD1 was young. I remember spending 2 hours trying to get her to have 45 minutes in her cot...

Hi again,

Did you try shh pat as well as or instead of the noise. It's kind of ends up being a sleep mantra, google it. I thought it sounded silly at first, took me 45 mins the first time I tried it but gets easier. However I have had a rubbish time using it today with DS. Maybe because he slept in his pram for 2 hours after DD's school run, god knows that's a first, so once luxury was experienced was having none of the basket later. I will therefore watch this thread for handy hints. I spent months or over a year feeding, rocking my daughter to sleep and she is now at 5yo and a bad sleeper without us sitting with her until she falls asleep. Don't want to do that for two of them aaah.

Oh but it is fantastic that your daughter just cooed and didn't cry. Definitely be positive about that. It is really important to get them at the right point of tiredness. I am learning this :) I am often too late

Hi, just wondered ho? it was going? My DS has full and truly found his thumb today and napped within five mins, just wanted to share this, cos am excited. I don't mind as long as he is happy. I did shh pat too. I guess they just have good and bad days, just like us x x x
