10week old sleep in the day...

My son is ten weeks old and I'm lucky if he sleeps three hours in the day! Is this normal?
My first son at this age was sleeping from 8-6 with one feed through the night, and then would nap at three set times in the day (with about 2 hours of awake time in between).
I know all babies are different, but does he not need more sleep than he is getting? At night he sleeps from about 8-6 with anything from 2-6 wakings, not always wanting milk. He gets tired in the day, but I'm finding it impossible to get him to nap more than three hours a day at the most, the only way he goes off easily is in the car, which isn't always an option as I also have my 2 year old to entertain aswell. Today little one only had two naps totalling about an hour! Any tips appreciated! x

Not much help but my two are/were exactly the same.

My ds1 woke only once for a feed and slept well in the day.

Ds2 (15 weeks) often wakes several times in the night and struggled to sleep in the day.

In fact the only way I can get him to have a long sleep in the day is to put him in my bed which can't go on much longer once he's rolling.

I would try for more frequent naps, rather than longer naps. Look more at awake time between naps, rather than time asleep. I would aim to be trying to get baby back to sleep within an hour of last waking up at 10 weeks old. Certainly no more than 90 minutes or you will get to over-tired.

Have you tried a bouncy chair for daytime naps? Great for getting (and keeping) baby asleep while simultaneously entertaining a toddler.
