My DS is 14 weeks and he tends to sleep from 8pm to 2am, at which point I give him a feed and he then goes back to sleep to about 6:30am. What I am wondering is if anyone knows at what age approximately he should stop needing a feed when he wakes up? When should I start trying to get him to go back to sleep without feeding him in the middle of the night?

He is able to go to sleep himself without feeding as quite often he does this at nap time and when I put him to bed at night he will sometimes wake up when I move him to his moses basket and go to sleep himself so I think he can do it. I am just confused about when I should stop offering the 2am feed?

He takes a good amount (he is ff) then so I am assuming he is waking because he is hungry and that I shouldn't try and get him back to sleep without it yet?

Any advice would be wonderful.

My DS had cut out the feed himself by about 4 months old. I noticed it was gradually getting later and later, until it reached the time when he would usually be waking anyway. I didn't actually do anything to make this happen though!

Thank you little, that's actually what I hope will happen. Maybe I am being a bit impatient and I should just carry on giving him the feed.
