Cot or bed

Hi all. We are going on hols in August and staying in a mobile home. We've just found out that the beds don't fold up and therefore we have no room for a travel cot. Our son has just turned two and still in a cot at home.

We have a bed guard ordered but our question is should we change him to cot bed now so he has a few weeks to get used to it or just wait until we get there.......we have the feeling that he will enjoy the new found freedom so it could be a painful transition.

We welcome any advice or your experiences...
Thanks

Is it a static caravan like at Haven or similar? It is usual that you put a travel cot in the living area in such caravans. There is a bed (usually in the form of a sofabed) in the living area too, usually. You can't fit a cot into any of the bedrooms though.

Having said that, at aged 2 it would be possible to use a bedguard. I wouldn't though.

I would just put in bed at that age with pillows on the floor. I wouldn't add bed guard as higher for him to fall if he climbs over. At 2 ours co slept with us but would go in the large main bed a few hours before us fine

Yes it is a static caravan. When his sister went to a caravan ,we used to put the spare mattress on the floor in case she fell out(which she did ????) but she was used to a bed by then. It's more the issue of timing ie change to the cotbed now or wait until the hols.....

I wouldn't bother with a bed guard either. Our DDs never ever woke up when they fell out of bed. We used to find them asleep on the floor in the morning occasionally.
