where does your 12 week old nap

hi just curious to know where everyones little ones nap during the day. ds2 flat out refuses to nap in his cot. ao far it will only be in either the pram or car seat on the pram or in his bouncer. either rocked pushed or bounced.

I know this isnt the worst (although recent studies in the news would disagree) however I would prefer it if he would nap in his cot as it would be more peaceful for him away from rowdy ds1 (just turned 3). I've tried several times to get hom asleep in the cot either putting him down asleep or awake with no joy. I probably haven't tried for long enough or often enough but im conscious im leaving ds1 on his own for a long period.

im frustrated because he isn't sleeping long and ds1 is losing out on attention as im constantly settling or soothing ds2 or doing some much needed housework (which ends up being the bare minimum).

At 12 weeks mine was napping either in moving pram or in my arms attached to my boob.
Cot naps didn't really happen until about 5-6 months.

AmandaTanen · 27/04/2015 15:21

In my arms or in the pram if we are out and about.

Mine does nap in his crib but DS1 definitely didn't at this age. He would only really sleep on me or in a moving pram.

My 4mo has only just started to sleep anywhere but my arms, he would know the second I put him down, but then one day I just randomly put him in his well padded moses basket, he stayed asleep and I got stuff done Grin

The fact that this is of concern to you indicates that you must be coping admirably with a 3 yr old and a 12 week old!!!

RachieS1986 · 27/04/2015 15:45

thanks for all your replies. im still completely thrown at how different they both are which is making me question everything. I feel like a ftm all over again. but as dh says no two babies are the same. im definitely getting my eyes opened to that.

They're older now, but DS napped anywhere (pram, car, cot, playmat, floor...) and DD napped nowhere.

MrsAuckerman some days I don't feel like im coping iv had my teary days as well especially as ds1 can be quite boisterous and hyper. ds2 has been a terrible sleeper in comparison to ds1 with little naps which dnt do much for anyone. I mentioned this to the dr one day (not my usual dr) and his answer was what do u want me to do about it he's probably one of those babies that doesn't sleep. Angry

we are for our 12 week injections tomorrow with one of the practice drs plus hv has a clinic there at the same time so might mention his unsettled sleep routine to one or both.

Dc 9 weeks naps in his pram and occasionally his swing. I never put him down to nap in crib during the day I want him to associate the crib with nighttime

My ds2 naps in his cot at least once a day and usually has a nap in the car and then transferred into sling for the preschool run for ds1. He's currently asleep on me having woken early from his afternoon sleep in his cot (we're in Australia)! He's still having shortish naps - never more than an hour - which drives me crazy as ds1 was having 2-hour naps in his cot by this point. That was bliss! I think part of the problem for us now is lack of set routine and having to fit around ds1. Ds2 does self settle now though...that has helped make looking after both boys feel manageable.

Ours sleeps in his sleepyhead in his cot-do you have one of those? Found it really helped, sometimes he will sleep for two hours in it. He will sleep in the swing or pushchair and things but like you I wanted him to have a better sleepand think the cot achieves this! X
