Need to stop almost 3 year old from co-sleeping

Hello all,

I co-sleep with my nearly 3 year old child. I'd never planned to co-sleep but found that when he was a baby it was the only way he would fall asleep.

It was fine for a while, but I don't think the arrangement is working anymore. He isn't such a heavy sleeper now and I seem to wake him up. Plus I'm getting a bit fed up.

He has a lovely bedroom with his own bed, but he will not go into it. I've tried to settle him down there by lying down with him, but he just lays there wide awake for ages and doesn't fall asleep.

I need advice from someone who has been in this position.
