Question about swaddling

Hello

My 19wk old DS has been sleeping in a woombie swaddle for a long time now & generally suits him well. BUT he's just starting to get the hang of rolling & to my horror I found him on his front last night Confused

So, does this mean the end of the swaddle?? I was just about to buy him a bigger one as he's growing out of it as well. I've tried him in a gro bag a couple of times but he does not know what to do with him arms & takes him long time to settle!

Any advice? Thank you Smile

I think they say you shouldn't swaddle once they're rolling over, yes. When we made the transition to sleeping bag with my daughter, we tucked her arms inside it for a week or so (there are usually a couple of poppers to make the arm holes smaller, so we did them up with her arms inside the bag, and she couldn't get them out). It gave her more freedom, but not quite as much as arms out, and got her used to the sensation. Hope that helps.

That's a good idea, will give it a go.

Perhaps I am misunderstanding, but wouldn't tucking arms in present the same problems that swaddling a rolling baby would?

When we stopped swaddling, we put DS in a grow bag and the tucked a blanket very tightly down the sides of the mattress so that he felt secure. I was terrified his sleep would be really affected by not being swaddled any longer, but it was actually fine.
Good luck!

Unfortunately I think this is one of those situations where you need to persevere until he gets used to it.

Putting his arms inside the sleeping bag is just as dangerous as swaddling him now he's rolling.
