Sleeping and Heating

I am struggling to get to grips with how to dress DS at night. Looking at grobag advice and what other mums say DS should be in 2.5 tog bag over vest and sleepsuit between 20-16 degrees. This seems absurdly warm to me. My bedroom is between 20-18 degrees at night and DS feels hot in sleepsuit alone with a 1 tog bag. Also as yesterday was so mild here DS went to baby swimming in sleepsuit, padded gilet with a hood and cellular blanket loosely over his legs. Other babies in vests, sleepsuits, fluffy jackets and thick blankets. It was about 20 degrees and sunny. Am I freezing him?! He just seems warm enough and seems so hot and sweaty when I put him in two layers and a thick blanket, or a 2.5 tog bag. I'm much more concerned with boiling him.

Also would a fleece sleepsuit be ok to sleep in on its own without a grobag?

I would go with your instinct if he feels warm enough. I posted a similar thread here www.mumsnet.com/Talk/sleep/2208955-What-should-babies-be-wearing-at-night-now-the-weathers-turned-colder but the opposite - I was worried DD was too cold at night.

In the daytime DD is only wearing 2 layers - long sleeve top and cardi or jumper over the top. We don't keep the house that warm, about 19 in the day. Haven't put her in hat or jacket at all yet, just a blanket over her in the pram.

We have a blanket just by the cot for nighttime - much easier to adjust their temp by adding or removing it, rather than having to gaff taking off layers of clothes in the night.

I believe it's safer to err on the cool side anyway.

Yes, two layers and a 2.5 tog bag just seems so much in a 20 degree room to me, but I might try him in a sleepsuit and 2.5 bag tonight. He just never seems cold I. What he's in, but it's so much less than other babies I've seen, and that thread also seems to have them in. I don't have heating on at night but the room stays warm. Terraced houses!

Where are you getting that grobag advice from? On their website they say just long sleeved vest under 2.5 tog bag at 20degrees.
