I follow the following rule which I think I got from NHS leaflet - where the temperature of the room dictates the bedding:

15C - 1 sheet + 3 blankets
18C - 1 sheet + 2 blankets
21C - 1 sheet + 1 blanket
24C - 1 sheet

You obviousy need a thermometer for that one though

i remember being told that the baby should have one extra layer of clothes than you if you are warm enough

This is on the grobag site

I thin the extra layer of clothes is only for the first 4 - 6 weeks. After that they will be comfortable in the same number of layers as you.

Grobag suggest:

16C 2.5 tog bag + long sleeved bodysuit & pajamas or bodysuit

18C 2.5 tog bag + long sleeve bodysuit and pajama top

20C 2.5 tog bag + long sleeve bodysuit
OR 1.0 tpg bag + short sleeve bodysuit + pajama top

22C 1.0 tog bag + long sleeved bodysuit

24C 1.0 tog bag + short sleeve bodysuit

26C 1.0 tog bag + short sleeve bodysuit

My most recent SIDs leaflet has the same blankets/sheets guidelines as 2pumpkin says.

At that age DD had a Grobag, and the appropriate level of clothing under it. BBetter for a baby to be too cool than too hot.

Hunker is clearly far cleverer than me - I copied it out of their catalogue - [dozy emoticon]!!

I only had a thermometer as I had tiny premmies & was paranoid that they would be too cold.

Thanks, I had dd in her grobag and pj's last night and she seemed fine. She has slept through the night for only the second time!! Hooray (i did have to do some paranoid checks every now and then) Its a sainsburys grobag which i was given and i wasn't too sure of the togs!)
