Sleep

14 month old won't sleep in his cot or in our bed!

Bit of a long story I'm afraid.

My 14 mth old boy James has had Chickenpox, Tonsilitis, Hand, Foot & Mouth and a chest infection in his little life already. He is also egg allergic. Since birth he has slept through the night only 5 times.

We have a 4 year old boy too and we are all exhausted. James has 2 naps in the day perfectly. He goes to sleep at bedtime fine with no tears, just cuddles his glow worm and goes to sleep. However give it a few hours and all hell breaks loose. He wakes every hour/2 hrs. What I do at the moment is go in after 15 mins of crying (which seems to be my limit) and then lay him back down and he goes off back to sleep. However an hour later he starts all over again. Rightly or wrongly because we are so tired I have been bringing him into our bed in the hope that he would sleep there, but no! He doesn't cry though in our bed he is just awake, crawling around the bed, almost falling off it, sitting there clapping etc. If I try to lay him down he giggles as if it's a game!

Now I know that no 2 children are the same. Daniel was heaven compared to James. We had to do controlled crying with Daniel but he was nowhere near this bad and he wanted to sleep, once James has been asleep he doesn't seem to want to stay that way later in the night.

Any tips greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Claire
