Why is my baby awake?!!!!

DD is 4 months, usually a good sleeper, going down at 9ish, and waking twice for feeding before getting up at around 8.30am. She has had a cold for a few days, blocked up etc but still not been too bad. Tonight I put her to bed half an hour earlier, and she's woken every 1-2 hours, not particularly wanting feeling but not settling to sleep. It's now 5.40 and she's wide awake talking and babbling to herself. Have come out into living room as DH is sleeping. Why is she so wide awake?! She's usually such good sleeper! She's not crying or in pain, what's going on!!!!!

Ah the four month sleep regression, I remember it well.Confused

She is probably going to start rolling over soon if that's any comfort.

You will need to ride it out, I remember making a 'nest' so I could snooze safely while holding dd at night.

Have I messed up bringing her out into living room?! She is coughing a lot from her cold i was hoping it was that and not the dreaded regression. But she's out here babbling away not wanting to sleep at all. Anything I can do to make it easier?! I'm so tired and it's only night one ConfusedConfused

Personally, I don't think there's much you can do other than survive it. So plan to nap when she does during the daytime over the next few days (eg skip babygroups for a bit). I don't think you have done anything wrong taking her to lounge, just keep lights low etc. If you have an electric rocker it will come in handy now.

But it will pass. And afterwards you will appreciate the good nights so much! Smile

So I'm currently laying my my room listening to my 2 and a half year old whine for me. His eyes are closed and he's stayed in bed just intermittently keeps calling for me. My boyfriend and I are refusing to go in because it's feeding his bad habit of getting up, if he was in pain or hungry or was actually crying I'd have been in there straight away but he's not and it's breaking my heart. Please tell me I'm doing the right thing.

I'm going through exactly the same as you at the moment with my 16 week son. In fact I just started another similar thread.... No advice only sympathy.
