Help

My 29 month old daughter is waking during the night for milk. I think this started when she had tonsillitis and we got stick with the routine. When's she sleeps as my mums she will sleep through but for me she'll wake up around 3-4am and ask for milkies, she'll have some then go back to sleep. I don't know what to do as I need it to stop. She drinks out of a big girl mug/cup on the day. Do I try that before bed? She'll normally have some milk out of her beaker and fall asleep holding it.

Please help xx

You really need to brush her teeth after she has milk at bedtime. I would just offer water in a beaker in the night.

We slipped back into this when ds was about that age and became ill. There was no other way than to go cold turkey. He made a loud protest for a couple nights, then nothing. Good luck :)

Cold turkey is the only way. Explain that milk is for before teeth and that it is going to sleep until morning. Then water in the beaker.

Is she eating enough during the day? Maybe give something like cheese and breadsticks or yoghurt before bed, then milk and teeth. I know it's not helpful to hear this but you really must brush her teeth after milk, before bed, and stop the milk in the night (replace with water) or she will have rotten teeth. It happened to a friend of mine's child - they gave a Bottle before bed each night and let heir DD fall asleep with it. By the time she was three her front teeth were totally rotten.
