Cold - settling back to sleep

Nearly 6 month dd has (another) cold and woke this morning at 3.30 very congested and screamy. She has done this on a couple of occasions previously when she has had a cold. We top up her medised dose, give her a drink of water, refresh the olbas oil and try to calm her by bouncing her calmly on our knees (she doesn't really like being cuddled or held still). She eventually tolerated being put back in her cot at around 4.45.

Does anyone have any tips for making this resettling process easier for all of us?

I have used somehting called snufflebaby, which is basically baby vicks vapour rub, (think got in Boots) on my 8 mnth old and it worked really well when she had a bunged up nose..Also have you tried propping up her cot mattress on a few rolled up towels so that she is at a slight angle?Sometimes helps clear the congestion..But as for the resettling, no tips that have worked i'm afraid.I was up from 2 till 5 with my one this morning...

I found proping one end of the cot relly helpful . . apart from that we used the junior olbas oil . . and prayed for too pass

We have tried to prop the cot a little but she tends to slide down and end up positioned horizontally across the bottom of the cot. Very sweet but not particularly effective!

This will sound mad but my dd1 always responded well to a steamy bath when she got screamy, even when she didn't have a cold.

smother the soles of her feet in vicks vapour rub, especially the ball and instep. Reflexology points there, will help her to breathe more easily.
Works with my 2 and for me.

Christ, you tell me. Ds2 was up from 4.45 until 6.45 this am.

sorry, didn't read your full post and now realise you were after tips on resettling, not helping the cold.
Sorry Puffling - I dont have any tips for what you've asked.

Walking round in circles or swaying from side to side in a steamy, dark bathroom helps dd. As does a bit of Karvol on a tissue underneath the bottom sheet by her head. Can't prop her up either because she does the same as your dd!!
