Sleep

Do lazy mother's babies sleep better?

I sleep like a log, and in my opinion so do my children. Is this because they have inherited this from me, or because they are used to not getting an instant response, or are they awake and I haven't realised?

I think they have inherited it from you. My dd1 is a bad sleeper, with a similar sleep pattern to my dh, they are often known to be wide awake at 4am, while dd2 and I are still fast asleep for another few hours. Looking into family historty, my sil was also a bad sleeper.

Hiya Colditz - we are exactly the same! I could sleep for days and all my 3 are excellent sleepers. I used to dread therm being up at 6am but they can all quite happily sleep through until 8 or 9 (school started this week so that was shock to their system!!) I've also wondered if they have kind of learnt to do it because they know there is no point trying to wake me up, or if it just an inbuilt thing that they have inherited from me....

Hi Zephyrcat how are you? Have your hormones calmed down? Mine have, quite a lot.

How I wish that were true! I used to be able to sleep for England (pre kids) and both my children have been crap sleepers and very early risers. They definitely don't get that from me!

Hiya Colditz - sorry I missed you on here - got ordered away to RL by DP!! I am sooo much calmer now since having DD2 - it's almost like they took the rage out at the same time they took her out!!! Good job really because I think we were all getting to breaking point. Glad to hear yours has passed as well - it's alovely feeling to not want to smash the place up every five minutes isn't it?! hehe

It is as if I expelled it with the placenta. My HV treats my like I am made of glass, I have only just persuaded her that I can come to the clinic and she doesn't have to come to my house every two weeks! I can't blame her for wanting to check up on me though, my past mental health record looks bloody awful on paper, and it's difficult to explain to someone that I am fine now!
