my 6 week old is getting quite good at sleeping at night but her daytime naps are now going wrong- she will only sleep for 45 mins max at a time and only gets a total of 2-3 hours sleep in the day and about 10 at night. not enough i know. should i be worried about this? anyone got any tips for getting them to sleep in the daytime.
thanks,

Possibly no help, but DD was always like this - nothing ever changed, and she is now a toddler with just oodles of energy... some babies just need less sleep.

Don't worry, it sometimes takes them a while to get into a daytime sleep routine. Mine did when she was about 3 months old. Also, do you rock her, swaddle her, etc... ? I found that mine was better left in peace and settled within 5-7mn. Your dd is getting more daytime sleep than mine at the same age.

Having the same trouble with my dd, but she wakes up all smiles so am letting her have her short naps and just monitoring her moods. She also sleeps through 11 hours at night so I can't complain.

My DD2 is 17 weeks now and does exactly the same thing. She has 3 naps a day of about 45 mins but sleeps really well at night and never seems over tired. I'm just going with it at the mo as she is perfectly happy.

Is your little one being woken by wind? My ds would wake frequently during naps at that age, but after a good burp he would often nod off again, given the chance. The same would apply at night but now he's 11 wks and thats suddenly improved. Six weeks is still so little, things will settle, if she was terribly tired she would sleep whatever.
