Is this too early? I'm wanting to do it while it's summer as she's used to not sleeping in her grobag. Have second on way so want to have in done in good time. Any tips?

My DS was 2 in March and he's still in his cot (big cotbed). It keeps me sane! He would spend too much time faffing about before bed.

When is baby due? Would imagine it will be in a moses basket or similar for a while first anyway?

2nd is due just after new year (great timing!). I've never used a moses basket at all as had friends that found it hard to go from moses basket to cot.

I oved my dd2 (15 months) to a little bed next to her big sister a few days ago. I am due in 5 weeks and didn't want to 'claim' her cot.

She has always slept in the cot till 1 or 2 or 3 A.M and then in with me. She now does exactly the same but from her bed to mine. I'm chilled about it and want her to go at her own pace so i guess it's how strict you are about him staying in it.
DD2 loves her big bed btw, she's incredibly proud of it

Moved DS at 25 mos. He was still mostly sleeping well in his cot(bed), but had climbed out of his travel cot so I thought Id better get on with it.

I let him choose some new bedding (duvet and cover etc).

Let him 'help' convert it into bed.

I happened to do this when DH was out and DS got really excited about daddy coming home so he could show him.

Didnt particularly go on about being a big boy bed, which I would imagine wise especially if you have another on the way.

Fitted bed guard.

Bedtime as normal with no fuss or mention.

Result - slept better that he has done for months right from the first night.

Lots of praise.

He even waits in bed until I go and get him in the morning, although I have always said as part of our routine that 'mummy and daddy will come and get you when its time to get up'.

Excellent madmarchhare, hopefully DD will be the same. Have got her a junior bed so it's not to big and scary. Do you think the bedrail is a good idea?
