Sleep

5 month daughter refuses to sleep.

Our lovely daughter has never been an easy sleeper but she's been really difficult for the past week, culminating in today.

She's breast fed and sleeps in our bed. We thought when we came back from our holiday to try controlled crying and gave in after an hour and decided against it. Since then she's been even more difficult to get to sleep either day or night and it seems to be getting worse. At first it would take her an hour to sleep (just generally not wanting to sleep in a good natured way) each time and now it's over 2 1/2 hours of screaming!

She's absolutely fine when awake but put her flat on her back on the bed and she's off! Pick her up and she's fine, if a little groggy.

Help us!

Thanks.

Do you think she's teething? If she was previously good, go through the process of elimination- wet, hungry, too hot, too cold, sore? It sounds like teeth to me...?

5mo too young for CC IMO.

Wait till they're much bigger and not cute any more before you try it

will she bfeed to sleep? If so, do it.

She's probably teething now but she seems absolutely fine when awake. It's only when we put her down to sleep that the drama starts. She won't sleep in bed with me, in her bouncer, swing or in our arms. She only finally falls asleep once she can't cry any more through exhaustion. She used to bf to sleep before but that doesn't work either.

Her morning sleep is slightly better, as she doesn't fight so much, and it get's worse throught the day. By the evening routine she's impossible!
