Does anyone still rock/bounce or whatever their 6mth or older lo to sleep for daytime naps? I do and in a dilema as to whether to try controlled crying to get him to self-settle. He is ok at night goes to slepp on own.

lofty66, I quite often have to resort to rocking, singing, and always feeding my 7 mo dd to get her daytime naps. Like your lo, she is usually knackered in the evening and settles well, but sometimes during the day she's all excited and wants to be in the thick of the action! I wouldn't worry, hun, as long as your lo is getting their naps and you don't mind the cuddles (I'm sure you don't!) I don't think it's a problem at all

we still cuddle/rock becky to sleep (she is 8 months) and i dont intend to stop just yet.

She may get cuddled to sleep, but she is sleeping through the night, and compared to Jess she is a dream baby!!!

To be honest, I just used to tell DD it was time for a sleep, pop her in her cot, give her her blankie and leave her to it. Sometimes she'd cry in protest for a few minutes, but 99% of the time she would always drop off. Now at 15 months, I warn her before it's nap time that that's what's coming up, so that she's not suddenly wrenched from whatever she's climbing/destroying, and I never have a problem.
