'He will get the sleep he needs ' - well with the battles with sleep we've endured over the last two years I'm never convinced by that statement! But you're probably right, he's most likely just not needing a long nap any more.
I have been thinking about getting a gro clock for the mornings, does anyone know if they work for naps? Not sure if I can convince a 2 yo that the moon comes up for an hour and a half in the middle of the day!
My two year old doesnt have naps anymore.I think they kind of decide themselves when to stop them.my boy is very cranky at night now hes decided he doesnt want a nap but goes to sleep easier.im more tired than him,i love naps.At nursery they have an hour at that age.
Dont worry you just adapt to doing things around them.Hopefully now theyre getting bigger theyll be more imaginative and keep themselves entertained with their games in their own world for short periods!
Can you not offer some books and tell them it's quiet time still? So if you want 1 hr nap and they sleep 45 mins, then the last 15 mins is looking at books quietly in bed.
We do this so 3.8 year old knows he can just read quietly for an hour instead but by the time he is in quiet snug room, under duvet he may look at one book but is usually asleep in minutes.
We have 2 and 3 year old. Both who still need naps really, but this 'quiet time' seems to work. So if on one day they don't feel tired they have the option of looking at books instead. Roughly 90 min-2hrs nap here.
Will try that, thanks. Bot sure he'll go for it though...
its not that he resists the nap. He goes off to sleep instantly so I know he is tired. He drops off as soon as he hits the car seat any time from 10am onwards! I'm sure he would prefer to sleep longer but I think something wakes him up. Last few days it has been a poo that has woken him and he gets so upset as soon as he is awake that I doubt he'd stay in his cot any longer that necessary - he literally wakes crying and doesn't stop til I get there
Ps I think it's poo that wakes him at 6am too, and he used to just not care and go back to sleep til 715. Now he obv doesn't want a poohy bum. Any idea how to reset his bowels for a more sociable time?!
