Yes, totally normal, he woke up for a feed at 4am then up at about 7am which is just as usual, so in future I'm not going to worry and just let him sleep, he seems to know what he needs. Thanks for your help.
Well, he got up after 2 and 3/4 hours! at quarter past 6. He's gone down to bed by 8 however which is not much later than usual. Wish me luck for the morning! We've been weaning him for about 4 weeks now.
Hmmm as a general rule i always leave DS to sleep during the day, but I see why you sould be concerned in this case.
Have you recently started weaning? DS always took 4 short 30-min naps per day, until I started weaning when they went totally erratic. Now he sometimes has days with short naps like before, and sometimes has random long 2hr+ naps which seem completely out of character, but which are a welcome treat! I hope you put your feet up and watched some tv/read a book??
In your case this afternoon I probably would have started clattering around outside his room, talking to myself/singing etc at around 5pm, but I am sure your LO will be fine. Maybe just keep him up a little later than normal this evening? Take the lead from him. Who knows, if he goes to bed later then he might have nice lie in tomorrow morning??
My 6 mo normally naps for 30 to 45 minutes 2 or 3 times a day. He's now on his 4th nap of the day (went down at 3.30pm) and is still asleep 2 hours and 15 minutes later (now 5.45pm). I don't know if to wake him or not, what have others done in this situation? Half of me thinks he obviously needs the sleep, the other is dreading having a bad nights sleep!!
Would just like to know for future, although I'll find out tonight if it was a bad idea or not!
