Sleep

Settling without feed

Hi, I've just stopped breastfeeding my 10mo DS and he's now having a bottle before bed. This is going fine but its taking me the best part of an hour to settle him to sleep. He used to feed, fall asleep on me and go into his cot. Even if he woke a little, he would turn over and go back to sleep.

Now, I can (eventually!) get him to sleep but when I put him down, he wakes. I've been doing this 2 or 3 times a time and I'm knackered! It also means his bed time is moving back by about an hour. He's definitely tired as he is falling asleep.

Any suggestions for helping him settle more/easier? Or is it just something that I have to go with and wait it out?

My 10 mth old is still bf (2x a day) and used to be fed to sleep until we started our version of controlled crying. Then we put her down relaxed but awake. Now I feed her before her bath or before a story then put her down. Usually she complains for a minute or two then zonk! Some nights, like tonight, straight away Zonk! I'm also introducing a story before naptime too.

But perhaps as she started crawling, pulling to stand and assisted walking in the last month she's wearing herself out so dropping off easier too.

He's crawling and pulling up so I think he's wearing himself out! If I put him in bed before he's asleep, he sits up and shouts for me, then turns to crying and pulling up to standing in the cot.

Maybe try putting him in bed, leaving him, going back, lying him down if he's up and repeat with no fuss, no chat. This is what I've read on here and super nanny etc. Eventually he will get the message. The time I found LO standing up I realised I needed to lower the cot which I hadn't done.
