before anyne jumps on me for being a moany cow I know this is not that horrendous but dd now 8 m used to sleep 7-7 and then play in her cot unitl 7.30 very happily. She also used to do a poo breakfast time and tea time.

now she is waking at 6 ish and crying, and has done a poo every morning when we go into her. She is irratible (sp?) all morning and will not resettle.

lots of people have said this is because of early morning liught and I should buy black out, she already has blackout blinds but they do let light in round edges - I have ordered some quite cheaply off ebay but am not convinced that this is the problem. I think the early morning poo is waking her up and she is not really really tired so cant go back to sleep.

doe anyone know how I can "reorganise" her pooing? Could it be her diet maybe, we have just introduced lumps and she is now eating more meat etc.

I know 6 is not massively early but it is making me very tired and upsetting an otherwise very contented baby it also makes for a very long day as she only naps for 2 hours total at the max.

hello - i am having the same thing with my 9mth old ds2. exactly the same as yours, used to sleep 7pm - 7.45am ish but lately he has started waking at 5.30ish, talks to himself for a bit then starts whinging. I would leave him but he then wakes up my ds2! it is really getting me down but hey, it could be worse. I suppose I am lucky they have both been good sleepers so far.
have you tried giving him his meat or protein at lunchtime and not at tea time, this sorted both my dss waking early with a poo in the morning. it took a few days to make a difference but it did work.
good luck.
try to remember though that they all go through phases of everything. i said to dh that ds1 never used to wake up early and he laughed and said that he went through phases of it, i have clearly just forgotten that!!

I was just coming on to ask about the same problem for my 9 1/2 month old DD. Two other babies in my road are doing the same too- for us about 5.30am. V tough. Have tried messing round with bedtime (a bit earlier or later) but seems to make no difference. Parents the country over are clearly having the same problem. Horrible being so tired!

well, my boys slept til 8am this morning - yay!! my sister (who is 32!) said yesterday that she was waking up at 5.30 cos of the light coming in her room SO I totally blacked out ds2's room (he has black out blinds anyway but i covered every crack with blankets). Not sure if this was what made him sleep but he did so hoorah!!

I've often wondered about the morning poo being the reason for early wakening. DS is 6 months and doing same since starting solids. Problem is that he is most hungry for solids at tea time not at lunch so hard to change his eating patterns. No real suggestions since I've been unsuccessful in changing the 5:15 wake-ups for the last 2 months! I feel your pain! I'm sure it will improve with time if nothing else.
