Bad night after Bad night...PU/PD or CC?

I'm using these abbreviations as if I know them well, but I don't.

Have scanned the message boards for similar relevant story but can't see one.

We need to get increasingly disrupted nights in order

6 month old needs dummy to go off to sleep, usually wakes at least once before we go to bed but can be settled,

then wakes at 1.30 and won't go to sleep until 4.30 (unless we give him the breast)...so we alternate between listening to his cries, pat and shushing, holding and stroking his hands, put the dummy in (which he then spits out)

he was sleeping through the night - we made the mistake of giving him the breast a couple of weeks ago when he woke up and wouldn't go back to sleep and now he's demanding it regularly during the night

what can we do? and how do we do it?

feel free to direct me to existing threads.

I'm so tired I feel awful

Hi there! We had similar problem couple of month ago...I know the feeling. I tryed giving my DD additional feed before her bedtime. About 8pm she had her breast and some oat porridge. I know some health specialists do not advise feeding just before the bedtime. However in our case it helped, I guess liitle bird was really hungry waking up at night, may be she had a growth spurt. Do you think it could help you? Good luck!Smile

Jenjam, that sleep/waking pattern sounds similar to my ds at that age (and now! He is 13mths) I wouldn't spend hours in the middle of the night trying to get him back to sleep by shushing and patting if giving a quick bf would get him back to sleep straight away. My ds still feeds through the night, there is nothing wrong with it.
