How do I stop my face and head getting too cold to sleep at night?

We live in a freezing house. It has been so cold lately every night, that I aam starting to wake up with the cold. My body is warm, but my head and face are really cold, and this is keeping me awake! Also if I roll over in bed, unless the covers are hermetically sealed around my neck I get freezing again.

Dh has suggested a balaclava. Should I wear a little night cap like Wee Willie Winkie?

Wear a hoodie and put the hood up. I do it when camping.

A hoodie?! Doesn't it suffocate you?

The thought of wearing a hoodie makes me feel really claustrophobic. I hate anything tight or close fitting in bed.

Would an electric blanket keep my head warm?

A beret? If a hoodie too much?!! Or a beanie? If you cover the top of your head your face will be warm.

Hmmm a beanie is an idea. Dd has a Poppet hat which may just do the trick.

What a sexbomb I will be!

Don't forget long thermal underwear and woolly socks. Quite a fetching ensemble if ever there was one.

Didn't seem as cold last night. Wore a long sleeved t shirt, socks and kept Poppet hat at side of bed just in case, but don't need it.

A Poppet hat is a hat based on Poppet from Moshi Monsters. Pink with big eyes and little ears. I look totally ridiculous in it!

Have you tried a hot water bottle? That's the only thing that stops me from having cold feet in bed. I mean in bed with you, if the rest of you is warmer then your head may ot get cold in the first place.

When DH and I lived on a boat with no heating we used to sleep in socks, thermals and hats and I usually slept with the duvet over my head as well to stop my nose getting cold.

The hot water bottle is a good idea, you could even put it near your head, like between the pillow and the headboard, or even under the pillow? (Just make sure you don't use boiling water and that you screw the top on properly). I would say don't actually sleep directly on it, even with a cover, I used to do that when I had earache as a kid and it always made me feel sick and dizzy. Or, like janek said, just having it in bed and warming the rest of your body up might make you feel a bit warmer.

Just for one fleeting second, I thought you'd said in the buff!. I have a feeling I might get tangled up in that.....the problem is I hate anything tight on me when I'm going to sleep....plus I have to be able to feel my special strokey pillow on my face Blush.

I know I'm a pain.......
