Yes it does, makes their mouths very painful & can make feeding difficult. DS kept pulling off the whole time when we had it. He would then take in more air, leading to more wind & being more unsettled.
Thank you all.
Have a white noise baby app on my phone. Have tried it a few times. Will do again.
He has Gaviscon in his feeds because the HV suspected reflux. Not sure if it is though.
Today he has slept nearly all day, after screaming all of last night. It's a viscous circle. He'll be awake all night tonight now!
Very knackered and at wits end. Seeing GP tomo morning as I suspect he has thrush, and I suspect I have nipple thrush. No idea if this affects them though.

White noise really helped DS and he still has a radio on static at bedtime and naptime and he's nearly 9 months! Poor you, sounds really tough. Get to the GP and see if they can suggest anything.
Colic and/reflux would be my ideas. Get yourself to the gp and see if they can help. Also a lot of people swear by infacol and/or gripe water.
My ds1 had colic and reflux the only thing we found to help was putting him in a sling and walking. I couldn't sleep obviously but it meant some peace from the screaming.
Also have you looked into safe co-sleeping? My ds2 doesn't have those but will Not go into his crib if he's got trapped wind, do we co-sleep on occasion and it's saved my sanity.
And lastly very very unmumsnetty <hugs> sleep deprivation is a form of torture. But it gets better I promise. Ds1 is now 6 and he sleeps really well. There's a light at the end of that tunnel, even if it's too far away to see right now!
Have a look here for some reassuring info on purple crying.
Our DS was diagnosed with reflux at 7w and our lives were transformed with gaviscon. Good luck, you will get there.
Or maybe reflux. Is the screaming after feeds?
Sounds like colic. Othets will have ideas on what to do but they do grow out of it. Keeping baby close usually helps. Can you use a sling? If breast fed can you co sleep?
Poor you OP.
DD is 5 weeks so I can understand where you're coming from, but it sounds liek you are having a horrid time.
Is it colic? Have you tried infacol, gripe water, baby massage etc?
Do you think you have pnd? Would a trip to the GP help?
Sorry, I'm no expert but didn't want to read and run.
Sympathies xxx
My DS is 7 weeks and 2 days.
He won't sleep at night. He finally settles at about 2 am, then goes til 5 ish, then 7 ish.
All day he screams and catnaps.
Evenings are the worst. Screaming from 5-1 or 2am.
Utterly exhausted. Not bonding. 2 other DC of 6 and 3, so no rests at all in day.
At breaking point. Very very very tired and can feel my health declining big time.
Tonight I left him with DH at 11 and slept til 3.30. Been awake since.
Feel suck with tiredness.
