DD has always been a bit of a tricky sleeper - takes ages to get her to go to sleep with combination of rocking and stoking etc, but recently she's generally slept through most nights or if woken up, been soothed back in 30 mins or so. If we've been really stuck we have bought her in with us (especially if she is ill). We have done CC as well and that often sorts it out. However, the last few nights she has woken about 11pm and despite a mixture of leaving her, cuddling her, offering her drinks, Caplpol (in case of teething), she refuses to go back to sleep and just stands in the cot crying or calling for us. Excluding a 10 min lull last night, she went from 11pm until we gave in at 3.30am due to exhaustion and we bought her into our bed. This was the same the night before and on Sunday. I have never known CC to not work or for her not to eventually give up (usually after an hour max)! Has anyone experienced anything similar or have any advice? I am lucky that I am working from home today and been able to start later, but I don't think I have the stamina for another dose of it tonight! Thanks
I have a 2.5 yr old and I would say that from @20 months sleep takes on another dimension. It's to do with increased awareness of being alone with mum and dad next door and imagination kicking in / start of nightmares etc. A lot of friends have had similar. Our DD has just about grown out of it. She sleeps with a lot of toys and has a night light. If she is genuinely upset she comes into bed with us. Make sure it's not too cold too as that can be a waker upperer.
I'm sat here now in dds room waiting for her to "give in" She is two next week and sleep has been shite since before Xmas. We are nearly ill through it. She sounds very like your dd tbh never been greet but now we have the whole lot. Not settling at bedtime, waking in night, not settling if put in with us in fact if we do that age wakes up for the day. I am completely fed up so no advice just sympathy sorry x
ledkr and cocoachannel Sorry to hear you are having the same. I am sending you some sympathy and hope it gets better. Last night she didn't wake up, but I laid in bed worrying she was going to wake up and what I would do so took ages to get to sleep! Not sure what I will do if she wakes tonight. We co slept for 8 months after she was born as she wouldn't settle elsewhere and I am worried that giving in and bringing her in the bed (where she usually settles) will lead us to regress, but I also think I need some survival tactics as I work 4 days a week! DialsMavis Thanks for the glimmer of hope!
Bad night last night. She woke at 2.30 and was crying on and off for N hour. She seemed worse when I went in but I hate leaving her for long. Ended up with her in with us so not much sleep then. Today I did my research so made sure she napped so not overtired and put her up awake but did hold dh finger to go to sleep but did easily. Who knows what tonight brings. God luck all xx
Any progress? DD has had an ear infection this week so not only is bed time horrendous but she is waking up during the night for the first time in months. We have new neighbours and live in a terrace; her screaming is do bad I keep wondering what on earth they must think (couples either side don't have children)!
