Dd 18 mo is still waking for milk

So until dd was 13 months I still fed her. I then successfully night weaned her between 11 and 5.

She then had a tummy bug and wanted milk which we let her have and now she seems to want it all night.

We also co sleep which I want to stop but I feel physically unable to do this until I stop her feeding.

She goes down with a battle in her own room at between 7 and 8.

Will sleep until about 12.30 to 1:30 when she wakes. Comes in with us and asks for a bottle.

She then has another at two as again at four. Maybe another at six.

All the bottles are 6oz. And sometimes she finishes that and asks for more.

She doesn't eat a lot during the day despite me trying a range of stuff and getting her to help me make it.

I'm 13 weeks pregnant and feel shattered. Do you have any ideas?

We tried dropping the milk by an
Oz but she just asks for more milk when she finishes the slightly smaller bottleConfused

Not an expert, but sounds like you might need to go cold turkey in the night and stop giving her milk. Painful for a while, but I'm sure she'll soon start to eat more in the day. I'd be quite concerned about her teeth if she's having milk after you've cleaned them in the evening.

Our DC1 was like this for 6 months until we went cold turkey. It took all of 3 nights and we went back to undisturbed sleep again.

Have a bottle with water in it and offer that. If she's really thirsty, she'll drink some. Otherwise she will soon get the message that there is no yummy milk if she wakes in the night and will sleep better.

Christmas is an ideal time to tackle it, assuming you and your OH are off work and can cope with losing a bit of sleep for a few nights.

I bet her eating will improve within the week.

BUT don't let her latch onto another drink as a tummy-filler! Ours went onto apple juice and her appetite suffered from that too.

Good luck!

Co-sleeping/night feeding - it's all about closeness and comfort, which is lovely until the sleep deprivation kicks in! Bite the bullet and put her in her own room. She'll wake and cry for a week. You need to keep lights dim, don't talk to her apart from 'Lie down please'. Pat/rub her back until she settles. It's really hard the first 2 or 3 nights but she'll soon sleep through again - it's all about not making it worth her while to wake up!

I just did water at night-no options. You all need sleep.

Thank you! Shall we go cold turkey and keep her in her room or work on the cold turkey and then keeping her in her own room!?

I would do it gradually.

Swap the milk for water. She'll soon get pissed off - needs to be not from you though as you smell of milky pud comfort.

Right- from tomorrow night (as she is at mums tonight) she is having no milk but she can come in wit us. Then we will work on her staying in her own room! Thanks everyone.

She'll pester you for milk if she's co-sleeping

I am no longer feeding but I think we may and keep her in her room tonight and offer water - no milk. Little unsure how it will work out as she is not herself buy I don't think there is ever a right time. Feeling like a nasty mum already and it's only 8 pm on day one.

Good luck, OP!

Stick to your guns. By the end of the week you will wish you did it sooner.
