Hi all.
Same sort of question. My baby boy is 7weeks. He takes 5oz every 3hours in the day. (He's a big boy 12lb 8oz)
Takes 6oz at 7:30 after bath n sleeps through till 1pm. Them he will take 2oz (max, sometimes only a tiny amount) and go through till 3/3:30.
That's all good I know.
Then he will wake at about 4am, doesn't want a bottle, rocking and dummy don't do much. He will normally dose till 5:30/6am. Then take 4oz.
How do I stop him waking at 4am - as he's not hungry not sure why he wakes??
First time mum, so great full for any advise. Sorry it's such a long message! xx

aw, luv, it's tough isn't it?

I'm currently on DC3 (16 weeks) and IMHO at 7 weeks they really are vey random and he sounds very normal.

maybe someone else has the holy grail for us, but the best advice I can offer is to go with the flow. if he wakes up for an unknown reason, so be it. you know he'll settle eventually. and next week he could be on a completely different pattern, even though you've changed nothing.

congratulations on your wee baby!

Agree with rooby, he probably just wakes because he's a baby and that's what babies do. There are some things you can do though. Is the room the right temperature ok? Have you tried swaddling and white noise?

Have a look on YouTube too at the happiest baby on the block and google askdrsears 31 ways to get your baby to sleep.

He's maybe just not tired! Babies can't sleep round the clock and if he's in bed by 7.30, he's had a decent stretch of sleep by 4am. My now 12 week old was similar to this at 7 weeks and is now sleeping for a little longer before he wakes.

Try to keep an eye on how much he sleeps in the day if you want more sleep at night. How much does he sleep in a 24 hour period?

It is quite an early bedtime for such a small baby. If you want him to sleep in till 6 or 7 try keeping him up till 9pm. Of course he will need an early evening nap, but if you are lucky then he will take that while you eat your dinner. The only other solution is to go to bed really early yourself so the 4 am wake up doesn't bother you so much.
For his age it sounds like he is doing really well doing such a nice stretch at night. I think 10 hours overnight is the best you are likely to get and then 4 to 5 hours daytime sleep.
