How do I get DS to get used to a duvet??

My DS is 18 months and Dh and I thought it would be a good idea to stop using grow bags and give him a duvet, one of the reasons being because he gets frustrated in the morning when he can't walk around the cot properly etc. Another being that he is getting older and we are expecting another baby in july so in the fullness of time maybe he could move to a bed and the baby couldhave the cot(saving money etc).
last night was the1st night and Iwent in twice to cver him up again and in the morning i went in to find he had taken his p.j bottoms off plus his nappy(!) and hadof couse peed everywhere!
Am I being too ambitious or trying this too soon?
I would be gratefull of any advice or tips!

I used a single duvet, laid dd on it then covered her up with bottom half when we transferred from sleeping bag

You could try him with an all-in-one sleepsuit, it would keep him warm if he pulled the covers off, and would (or at least might!) stop him taking his nappy off as well.

Could you slit it open at the bottom so that he can get about in his cot whilst still wearing it?

Or how about moving to blankets that are tucked in at the sides first, would that work?

agree those fleecy sleepsuits are great - both my ds's used them

Great idea About fleecy sleepsuits WigWamBam - do they still make them in 18 to 24 months + sizes? If so where could I buy one?

Also re taking the nappy off - do you use disposables? If so, then try putting a poppered wrap over the top - makes the nappy far less accessible!

Woolies, Adams, Mothercare and Tesco all do the all-in-one sleepsuits - nice fleecy ones, some with feet in, some without.

My DS aged 2.5 is still in his grobag and has learnt to walk in it. DD stayed in hers until she was 3.5 and had been in a bed for a year.

Clearly we baby them!
