Very normal, but it probably won't be as bad as you expect.

starshaker, dh & i are exactly the same as you about dd sleeping with us. She is 16 weeks and her room is complete..has been since I was 28 weeks pregnant! We love her sleeping with us (apart from the fact that she is now starting to wake during the night..see my other thread) and we don't really feel the need for her to go into her own room. In fact we tried her on her own for 1 night and then continued to put her with us!
imo, it's very normal but everyone is different. I know somene who put ds on his own from his first night home ..each to their own . Good luck.

Starshaker, do you have room in your room for her cot? If so, why not move it in, then she can still be in your room and it may make the trasition from crib to cot easier for her.

Starshaker, we put DS (now 5.5 months) into our big spare room when he was born on the basis that I would sleep with him until he was sleeping through the night and then DD (7 years) would move into this bigger room and he would move into her little room. Thought I would be desperate to move away from him in the night as I do wake with every little sound he makes but the other night, I slept with DH to get used to the idea of being in a different room from DS and spent the whole night getting up to check he was OK. How mad am I.

He has just started sleeping through so I know we will start to think about moving him soon and I know I am really going to miss 'feeling' him near me in the night.

Not much help but wanted to let you know you're not alone in your feelings.

I'm afraid i'm one of those evil mothers. DS was in his own room at 5 weeks. He was waking us up, and we were waking him. So we just went for it. He is 10 weeks now, and sleeps from about 8pm - 7am. Its great
