Going to France in March 1ith 11 month old - what to wear on his legs!

Hi,

Have looked back at previous threds and ordere some thermal boots and have snowsuit, sallopettes and jackets but wondered what to put under these on his legs. Does he need thermals? Not sure he'd be too happy wearing a pair of tights!

My two year old just wore her ordinary clothes under sallopettes and jacket. I think thermals would be an unecesssary expense at that age.

I think i'd be going with the idea of a bunch of normal jog-pants type things that all toddler people wear, and stick the snowproofing over the top
have fun!!

My boys have always worn tights until DS1 turned 8.....thought he might be a bit embarrassed to be seen in them in Snow Club so we splashed out on a pair of merino leggings (not too expensive from Muddy Puddles and bought several sizes too big to ensure plenty of wear!!)

However, if you think the tights will cause a hoo-ha then I would put him in a pair of jogging bottoms. I am certain that DS2 wore cotton tights beneath his regular clothes and then his snowsuit at a year old.

We put jogging bottoms under ds's first time - not fleecy but lighter jersey ones from Next. Europeans use tights on both sexes - he isn't going to know at 11 months and you won't get any issues with trousers riding up to reveal bare ankles. When the kids are indoors you see a lot of them in just thermals or tights.

Yep, tights it is, now I just need to find some that aren't lilac or flowered!

No joy in M & S today, all very girlie, will have to hunt around!

Mothercare do plain red, navy, grey etc. in small sizes and you can also get them in Sainsburys (unless they've got rid of their winter stock by now).

DS1 wore tights under his normal clothes when we took him at 14 months. I'm sure they were from Tesco

I just put my 9mo in usual clothes and she wore a snowsuit when out and about. If her clothes were thinner (i.e. leggings) or it was especially cold, then I'd stick a pair of fleece trousers over her bottoms before putting into the snowsuit. It was better this way for us, as the childcare rooms and our chalet were boiling hot and if she was in tights I'd be constantly undressing her.

I've bought him a couple of pairs of white tights (look very much like thermals!) and will also take jogging bottoms etc.

DaisyFitz - I was thinking about that too as I'm sure the creche where he'll be in the mornings will be very warm.

I'll take the tights, and if we need them at least I have them.

I put my 2yo in his PJ bottoms under his snow suit. he didn't object!! Then once I realised that at lunch we were taking off snow suit and he looked a little strange in restaurant, I put his normal trousers on (instead of PJs) and they were just fine.
