Hi,

Off to Morzine for a week in a month with DS who will be 1 a few days after we get back.

Just wondered if you can use the tap water to make up formula?

Would prefer to take cartons but flying from a small regional airport without a Boots airside so not sure If i can pre-order any to pick up on the way. If not, will have to take powder and make up while there.

Was hoping to get him on cows milk before we go but as he was 2 months prem I think its too soon for him to change.

We did, just boil it as you would in the UK.

A whole month?? I'm very jealous

I've always bought Evian water and boiled that.

we boiled it but tbh LO was a bit off colour all week. bit sick and a bit runny poos - thought it was teething, but totally fine once we got home. was maybe water? dh reckons that the change in water maybe upset her. we have v soft water through granite, whereas there it is hard through limestone. maybe jsut the change in type.
if I went again I'd buy and boil bottled.

if i went again! wouldn't take 9 month old again - she was very unsettled.

Yes, you can.

You can, but the French don't. They use Evian or any other bottled water that says it is suitable for babies.

Note that bottled spring water should be okay, but bottled mineral water should be avoided: due to the minerals in the latter.

I boil it when I go to france . FWIW she loves french formula and you have to stop her guzzling it...

the formula advice is to use evian etc - the only thing I've found is that if you use boiled water in the way you do in the uk sometimes the formula doesn't mix in as well as it does if you use evian/cooled water.

MrsLSG - that's not strictly true. Evian is mineral water, after all. Some mineral waters aren't suitable because they have high levels of certain minerals, but those that are fine for babies say so on the label.

Thanks for the advice.

Have tried my loacl airport and as its so small and doesn't have a Boots can't pre-order a load of cartons.

Some of our party are flying from Gatwick so might see if I can do it through the Boots there and get them to pick them up.

Might be easier that way.

You can take cartons in your hold luggage - the no fluid restriction applies to your hand luggage only.
