Tied to half term so looking at Austria or Italy again as less of an extortion than France. Flights aren't out yet though..

We've decided to go at Xmas this coming season so not too long to wait. The problem is 2018 will take an age to come round!

Massistar, have a look at Baquera Beret in Spain. At half term it's supposed to be excellent. It's there or Sweden for us in 2018!

DCMTuC: Baquera is one if the places I am looking at for 2018.

Ooh I will thanks! Haven't even heard of it! Italy is fab at half term too.. We've skiied in Canazei a few times and never queued for a lift.

dontcallmethatyoucunt · 14/04/2016 15:40

Canazei is a good tip too, I'll have a look ... any excuse!

My friends were in Baquera this year and said it was amazing. They really enjoyed it and again, empty slopes.

CaurnieBred, share any tips you may find. I was thinking fly to Toulouse and then drive into the mountains. The only package I've found is Neilson, but not looked hard as yet. Trip Advisor shows quite a few options though.

massistar is it quite linked up in the various areas? Are there buses like Chamonix or am I being a bit too optimistic! ?

Report
massistar · 14/04/2016 16:00

We stayed in Alba and from there you can ski in either Ciampac or take the new gondola over to the main ski are at Canazei. Canazei links into the Sellaronda as well. Worth going just for the food Grin.

We've booked our accommodation. Just waiting for flights to come out for March next year. We're going the same place as this year, Morillon, as the accommodation was just perfect for us. Just going outwith the French school holidays as the queues were awful.

Loving all the posts,

good to see that I am not the only ski mad person on the planet :)

Just looked at Baquiera - interesting !! Maybe 2018 !! Although Les Arcs ticks all of our boxes, apartment perfect, skiing good, smiling to myself as I type this as I wish I was there now :)

Just yesterday I booked flights for a group of 19 of us for Feb 2017 half term to Austria and we've got two accomodations on hold for us to decide on over the weekend - one is self catering in 2 new chalets with saunas for £365 per head or a more basic group style chalet with catering for £399 per head. Decisions, decisions!

Do I win? I've booked Saalbach in Austria for late January next year as well as a flight all the way from Australia! Yes, I am addicted.

Still have a second week of skiing to decide on.

Yay more posts !!

Booking confirmed :) got to save now, money pots started as I am rubbish at saving, have 3 on the go, ski spending money, ski passes and petrol money !!

Advise from my fellow skiers, as we drive and stay either side of week, any ideas on places, usually Lyon on way down and then Lille on way back, the drive to Lille the past 2 years nearly 15 hours, stop off needed but a closer place, any ideas :)

Loving this thread now :)
