Going skiing with a 3yr old & 7 year old in April in Flaine & wondered if anyone has had any experience of good ski schools? 7 year old just about parallel but 3 yr old a beginner

Its one of the few resorts were I would recommend ESF. DS started there age 5 and had a good experience.

The kids snow garden ( ESF area) was in the middle of two wide gentle nursery slopes with its own magic carpet . Once they could move out of the snow garden they just popped onto the main nursery slope and could use the bigger magic carpet alongside, eventually progressing to the slow low chairlift. The ESF creche building was just across the slope and had loos and an area for the bigger ones to sit and eat their snack inside on cold days ( and we had some VERY cold days).
For your slightly older one, its still a great resort, there is a nice easy green blue set of routes returning to the resort. and an abundance of wide runs at blue and red for lessons. Its very well linked resort, and it was not a problem coming back to town at lunch time to get DS. We skied with him some afternoons, others we played or ice skated.

That's really useful, thank you. Wasn't sure about ESF as heard they can be quite harsh with wee ones but that's refreshing, thanks

I would say avoid ESF in Flaine. DS cane back with a black eye and a cut where the edge of his goggles sat and all the instructor did was shrugged his shoulders when I asked him about it. DS wet his ski suit every day as he was too scared to ask to go to the loo. Also he was one of only two non French speakers in his group and he learned bugger all.

Argh, that's a very mixed 2 answers. Am just about to sign two three year olds up for Piou Piou in Flaine and quite worried about the food/language/toileting aspects.

How old is your DS trixy?

What other options are there?
We used the kids club run by crystal but I don't think that exists in flaine now.

Crystal used ESF in Flaine and now that the Totem is shut I don't think there's a kids club anymore.

My DS was 5 when we skied in Flaine. We used ESI in Tignes 2 years ago who were much better than ESF, I believe they offer lessons in Flaine too.

Flaine is a great resort for kids with the magic carpet on the nursery slope.
