Ellmau?

We're off to Ellmau in Feb half term, independently, staying in an apartment. We have 2 DC aged 6 and 4, both done 1 week on snow last year. DH and I are pretty good skiers.

Has anyone been to Ellmau and have any tips/advice? Am thinking of booking Top Ski School for the kids as we are staying nearby their pick up place. Any experience?

Am hoping the kids will like it as we went with a big family group last year, Esprit before that, and this year is just us, so am keen to make it go as smoothly as possible.

Thanks

Yes I've been and it's lovely. We had bad weather though but fingers crossed you won't! Didn't use ski school but a friend has and they loved it. Have a great time!

Am jealous!

We went to Ellmau pre-kids. In fact DH proposed to me there, by the little chapel on the hill.

Been in the summer too, there's a fab swimming pool with slides and stuff.

It's great for skiing, lots of runs and good après-ski too. The ski school was fine.

Have a great trip! Smile

I'm watching this with interest- we're going to Ellmau the same week as you!! We too are travelling independently, staying at hotel Kaiserblick and they recommend Top ski school so I think that's who we're going with!

I'm liking all the positive stories about Ellmau- we were in Soll last year and loved it.

Hi OwlMother good to hear you'll be there that week too. Do you have DC?
I have just reserved the ski school for DS and DD - Claudia at Top Skischool was very polilte and prompt in replying to my emails.
Am Envy that you are staying in a hotel - we are trying to do a budget ski holiday (oxymoron, I know), so are self catering. Mind you, DS is a bit of a pain in restaurants, so noodles or pizza in the apartment is going to be so much less stressful (I hope).

See you there, maybe

Yes, we have 3dc - ds1 is 13, dd1 is 10 and ds2 is 8. All will be in classes of some sort - the younger two definitely with Top, but we're currently trying to work out what's best with ds1 - he wants less teaching and more being able to range further afield.

The Hotel thing is a bit of a compromise - i'm the one who would do all the work if we were self catering, and I'm the one least into skiing! Therefore if we're to go skiing I have to have some kind of incentive! My dc's are quite good ages for hotels too - a couple of years ago we'd have been more concerned about them needing their own space!

Where are you flying to? We found prices for flights drastically more expensive than last year!
