I seem to remember mnhq saying they would consider this, has any decision been made? I would love you all forever, even more than I do now smile

BlameItOnTheCuervHoHoHo Fri 23-Nov-12 11:18:09

Me too. It would be nice to keep my bp on an even keel!

SuePurblybiltbyElves Fri 23-Nov-12 11:36:52

JUST got your name, Fives <slow>
I've found a way round it. I've hidden everything bar Christmas, Site Stuff (it slipped through) and Telly Addicts. They're the only topics without snarkiness that I've found (Baby names is a hell hole).
It makes MN very quiet, but much naicer.

FivesAndNorks Fri 23-Nov-12 11:39:13

smile
I don't want to hide bits of mn, you never know what you might miss!

TeeHollyandTeeIvy Fri 23-Nov-12 11:41:06

I just got it too, Sue! ::sits next to Sue on slow bench::

Pleaseeeeee HQ? Pleeeeaaaassseeee? Can we have this?

CouthyMowEatingBraiiiiinz Fri 23-Nov-12 11:44:28

Still not got it.

<<Goes and sits on even slower bench>>

It would be handy, there are one or three in particular posters that make me ragey.

BlameItOnTheCuervHoHoHo Fri 23-Nov-12 11:44:50

I've hidden aibu. Its lush.

But the aibu wankers are infiltrating chat. And that makes me sad

TeeHollyandTeeIvy Fri 23-Nov-12 11:46:36

Say it out loud, couthy.

FivesAndNorks Fri 23-Nov-12 11:49:48

But I like aibu. It's my spiritual home.

RooneyMara Fri 23-Nov-12 11:51:38

I only just got the Manatee name.

I mean I loved it anyway but I never realised it was a play on words, till I was in the car the other day.

and suddenly the world brightened for a moment and I knew.

BlameItOnTheCuervHoHoHo Fri 23-Nov-12 11:52:20

If I could hide poster, I could unhide aibu

FivesAndNorks Fri 23-Nov-12 11:53:32

Exactly!
I volunteer to be a guinea pig, you can all hide me to make sure it works
you nest of vipers

FivesAndNorks Fri 23-Nov-12 12:07:54

OK, you already have sad

Mintyy Fri 23-Nov-12 12:14:51

Please come and add your name to my current petition here.

Does the poster(s) you all want to hide only hang out in Am I being an arse??

BlameItOnTheCuervHoHoHo Fri 23-Nov-12 12:15:18

Eh? Who said that? wink

FivesAndNorks Fri 23-Nov-12 12:16:10

no idea really, I dont think so. Will sign petition smile

Mintyy Fri 23-Nov-12 12:19:10

I think hq are possibly coming round to the idea of a hide poster option. Possibly. It is requested so often, and by so many reasonable mumsnetters, that they surely can't dismiss it as a bonkers idea.

We've just got to wear them down wink.

FivesAndNorks Fri 23-Nov-12 12:21:11

they did say theyd think about it
then they'd just hide te lot of us and it'd make their jobs loads easier
Apart from poor tech who would be responsible for hiding new posters for all of MNHQ when they joined.

EdithWeston Fri 23-Nov-12 12:24:31

They need to make it "hide user name" though, not "hide poster", else it could be expose name changes. And that would be horrible for people who had NC'ed in order to post about something sensitive.

FivesAndNorks Fri 23-Nov-12 12:25:46

Yes, you're right, it would. So you would still be exposed to that person under any name changes. But TBH if they're still annoying you you'd hide them too.

BlameItOnTheCuervHoHoHo Fri 23-Nov-12 12:27:34

They could pop a "why are you hiding this poster" q. And if someone is hidden by loads of mners for being a wanker mnhq will see that.

FivesAndNorks Fri 23-Nov-12 12:28:43

ooh no not sure I agree with that. If what they post breaks MN guidelines report. If you just can't stand them, hide. They have as much right to be here as anyone else.

BlameItOnTheCuervHoHoHo Fri 23-Nov-12 12:34:28

But if they are trolling they can bugger off.

It would take a lot for me to hide someone.

FivesAndNorks Fri 23-Nov-12 12:42:01

I have people who just get on my nerves. Most people are fine with them, it is just me. Hiding would make me happy and not affect anyone else.

SuePurblybiltbyElves Fri 23-Nov-12 13:03:47

and suddenly the world brightened for a moment and I knew.

That is an oddly beautiful turn of phrase.

RooneyMara Fri 23-Nov-12 13:44:01

Yes I nicked it from someone like Jilly Cooper I think grin

FivesAndNorks Fri 23-Nov-12 14:24:53

Bump

SantasStrapOn Fri 23-Nov-12 14:44:44

I have said your name out loud loads, Norks. DD is hmming me, and I still don't get it.

I don't get Manatee's either, someone take pity on me and explain please.

Jacksmania Fri 23-Nov-12 14:55:41

If you swap the N and the F, NorksAndFives becomes ForksAnd(K)Nives grin

Jacksmania Fri 23-Nov-12 14:56:55

Or (K)NivesAndForks rather - oops.

Jacksmania Fri 23-Nov-12 14:58:18

I would love a "hide poster" button. I can think of half a dozen I'd hide in a heartbeat.

Off duty user names shock
That's interesting and a bit weird

Iamjustapoorboy Fri 23-Nov-12 23:07:39

Yes, they're allowed to be human beings as well.

How would it work? For example if I'd hidden Username EdnaScoggins, would any thread I looked at on which she had posted have lots of missing posts? And therefore not make much sense.

Sorry if sound a bit thick, it sounds like a good idea in principle. Is it in use on any other forum?

Shit, if there is a real MNetter with the username Edna Scoggins out there, it is entirely coincidental and I didn't mean you.

blush

EdnaScoggins Fri 23-Nov-12 23:59:57

I think you did though. angry

(Just joking....have nc'd) grin

It is in use on other forums - I think that thread linked to above gives some.

Jacksmania Sat 24-Nov-12 00:17:09

I think, if you choose to hide several posters and threads suddenly start making no sense, or are worse than usual, let's say grin, you can always unhide some and see if sense returns. Or the red rage. One of the two. grin

PimpMyHippo Sat 24-Nov-12 00:30:18

I used to use a forum with a hide poster option - when the poster you'd hidden posted on a thread, it would come up with their username and then instead of the message there'd be a notice saying "You have hidden this poster" and an option to show the content of the post - a bit like when a comment receives too many negative votes on Youtube and it's hidden but not actually deleted, IYSWIM? I never bothered hiding anyone because I'd never be able to resist clicking "show post" anyway, so it was pointless. grin

EdnaScoggins Sat 24-Nov-12 01:01:03

Surely it's effective in disempowering trolls, though. Everybody knows the best way to defeat them is to ignore them, and if they were hidden by other posters on threads, they would lose their power and go and bother another website.

EdnaScoggins Sat 24-Nov-12 01:02:47

People are always complaining that MN is crawling with trolls, so Hide Poster would vastly improve the site in that respect.

Jacksmania Sat 24-Nov-12 02:06:44

I don't think a blurb saying "you have chosen to hide this poster" would help me personally. Just seeing some posters' names makes me feel quite stabby. I'd be thinking, "oh yeah, whatserface is first topost on a thread again, WTF, has she got a bell in her computer that bongs every time someone starts a thread, just fuck off already, will you" grin

You'd really have to hide the poster's name as well as the post.

FivesAndNorks Sat 24-Nov-12 07:58:03

just hide poster would work for me.

grin Sorry Edna have just noticed you're on here.

EdnaScoggins Sat 24-Nov-12 11:29:06

<<waves>>

germyrabbit Sat 24-Nov-12 11:33:42

i think if it comes to the fact that you actually want to HIDE people who post on here, maybe you should find somewhere else to post

the beauty of mn is that it's an open forum and everyone's views are heard, if you like them or not.

hiding people really isn't in the spirit of the site imo, how hard is it just to ignore posters you disagree with?? you must spend hours of your life being riled by strangers otherwise

EdnaScoggins Sat 24-Nov-12 11:43:28

Supposed trolls seem to anger people a lot, though, and if they were ignored, they would just go to another site. So it would be very effective in stopping trolling.

grin <<waves back>>

Even though I thought I'd hidden you angry sad

Trills Sat 24-Nov-12 11:56:42

Oh, leave them alone.

Poor MNHQ.

Even if they agree it's a good idea, they are hardly likely to tell you so now.

If they tell you "yes we will do that" then you'll be forever nagging as to when you'll get it. And the people who don't want it to exist will start shouting again.

And they'll try to get it done quickly, but these things take time, and sometimes they take ore time than you expect, so if they tell you an estimate of when it'll be done to shut you up it might run on and then you'll be complaining again because it isn't on time.

So the easiest policy is to not tell you that they are doing it at all until it's nearly finished. And not to tell you a date for when it will be delivered until it is completely done.

EdnaScoggins Sat 24-Nov-12 12:01:37

Yes, we know secrecy and opacity is the name of the game. Still we can always try for transparency.

Trills Sat 24-Nov-12 12:21:56

It's about managing expectations.

If you are panning to do it, say "we're thinking about it"

If you are actually doing it, say "we plan to do this"

If you have already done it (but not yet deployed it) say "we are working on it"

EdnaScoggins Sat 24-Nov-12 12:51:22

Or you can say: TSSDNCOP or whatever it is.

Mintyy Sat 24-Nov-12 13:24:21

germyrabbit - it isn't about hiding posters who disagree with you. Its about hiding posters who seriously get on your tits. I have one or two who if they turn up on a thread then I just simply have to leave it. You know how there are some people who you go out of your way to avoid in rl?

I have no problem whatsoever with people disagreeing with me, and no problem with having the odd argument either. Its all forgotten more or less immediately from my pov. With just a couple of exceptions grin.

FivesAndNorks Sat 24-Nov-12 13:40:44

Yes, there are plenty of posters I actually argue with that will remain unhidden. MN is about debate. But there are some posters that I fundamentally do not get and we have the same tiresome argument over and over again. I struggle to not respond to what they're saying but it's petty and I'd really rather not.

SoupDragon Sat 24-Nov-12 13:45:53

I am completely against this. It is rude and childish IMO and, just because other forums do it, doesn't make it a good idea.

I always thought that MNHQ's stance on it was "No" rather than "think about it" though.

FivesAndNorks Sat 24-Nov-12 13:51:55

I find myself being rude and childish sometimes on this forum and I really think this would help. I'm under no illusions, I know people would hide me too.

SoupDragon Sat 24-Nov-12 14:10:27

I suspect it wont make any difference to how rude and childish you are. wink

Ignoring people is shit and stupid and people will be able to tell.

EdnaScoggins Sat 24-Nov-12 14:18:12

It would stop people being rude for effect.

FivesAndNorks Sat 24-Nov-12 14:27:02

It would just stop e rising to the bait. but I'm sorry I come across as childish, maybe soething I need to address.

EdnaScoggins Sat 24-Nov-12 14:31:16

You are right, it might increase self-awareness, which would be a terrific thing and make the world a better place for everyone in it. wink

SoupDragon Sat 24-Nov-12 14:31:35

But it wouldn't stop you "being rude for effect" or being "childish" (and clearly you missed the wink at the end of my post). That would ony work if you hid every single poster or stopped posting. And that would be rather dull.

If you need the ability to hide posters in order to control your behaviour, then maybe you need to look elsewhere for the problem.

EdnaScoggins Sat 24-Nov-12 14:34:02

Soupy, it would stop some people being rude for effect because fewer people would see them being rude for effect. So discussion would continue, ignoring the rudeness as if it wasn't there. Because for people who had hidden that poster, the rudeness would indeed NOT be there.

FivesAndNorks Sat 24-Nov-12 14:35:11

It would reduce the amount of time I spend responding to the comments. And I didn't miss the wink, but didn't feel the wink negated your previous sentence in its entirety.
And yes, I am sure it's my behaviour that is in question, but why shouldn't I do what I can to reduce my bad behaviour? Some of it will be in my reaction, some of it will be about reducing exposure. I don't watch TOWIE because I know my blood pressure will rise and I'll end up shouting at the screen. I could not MN at all but I'd prefer to MN with certain sources of rising blood pressure hidden from me. It wouldn't affect the hidee's MN experience at all - as it should be. It's entirely personal, as some people hide topics.

FancyPuffin Sat 24-Nov-12 14:40:09

If I hid every single poster then that would mean Mumsnet would be all mine.

This pleases me grin

EdnaScoggins Sat 24-Nov-12 14:42:12

Yes, I'm sure that point has been made on a previous thread. Open house for narcissists - they could talk to themselves all day and night without fear of disagreement. grin

I'd bloody love this. I've raised it in the past.

Currently there is one single poster making me consider getting the hell out of here, if I didn't have to read it I'd be far happier.

BlameItOnTheCuervHoHoHo Sat 24-Nov-12 15:09:15

I've always been firmly against it. Now, I'd love it. There seem to be more and more idiots about. And I'm sick of trying to reason with them. In rl I would avoid these people.

EdnaScoggins Sat 24-Nov-12 15:11:38

HQ could do a customer survey and see what the overall opinion of the membership is.

Everlong Sat 24-Nov-12 16:44:19

I suppose if a certain poster or posters have a negative effect on you -- fuck you right off-- then the other thing would be to come a thread they are on or not to interact with them. Whether ^they* would be as discretionary is another matter.

BlameItOnTheCuervHoHoHo Sat 24-Nov-12 16:52:07

Everlong, I don't click on threads by the very few posters who fuck me off annoy me, and if they are the last poster then I avoid, but often they join after me. And give me the rage. And much as I have tried to ignore or be civil, they keep prodding and grinding until I snap.

I'd love to be able to report a troll, then hide. Less troll hunting.

Everlong Sat 24-Nov-12 16:56:26

That's just rubbish for you blame I can just imagine how bloody antagonising that must be.

FivesAndNorks Sat 24-Nov-12 16:58:18

I think blame should have said fewer trollhunting . Inferior education always shows. . And what has she done to her hair? It's erm...interesting.

BlameItOnTheCuervHoHoHo Sat 24-Nov-12 17:14:59

<Flicks lucious locks and turns back to jeremy kyle show> yawha? wink

There is a script which allows a ban poster, but I mn from the twatphone most of the time. So I can't use it. And that makes me sad. I'm sure there are posters who feel the same way about me (in fact, I know there are) but they are the same ones I want to hide. Win-win.

EdnaScoggins Sat 24-Nov-12 17:31:17

Fewer trolls; less troll hunting.

BlameItOnTheCuervHoHoHo Sat 24-Nov-12 17:50:43

D'ya think we could get bob geldof and gary barlow to sing it when they stage a concert to raise awareness for our campaign?

MorrisZapp Sat 24-Nov-12 17:52:42

Hide poster is a load of cobblers. It wouldn't prevent bunfights and it wouldn't stop users reading posts by people they don't like.

Seriously, you'd happily MN around blank posts that others were responding to? It wouldn't happen like that.

My best pal turns on her answering machine when she's tired. Then leaps up and groggily answers the phone if you ring her. She doesn't want to miss anything.

If people truly didn't want to have bun fights, they just wouldn't post on threads that annoy them.

FivesAndNorks Sat 24-Nov-12 17:54:13

But it;'s not necessarily the thread itseld that annoys me. I can be quite happily posting on a load of old bollocks thread about a triplet pirate party (aaargh) and then that Cuervo will come on and just BLEDDY WIND ME UP and I just want to not see her opinion on triplet pirate parties

EdnaScoggins Sat 24-Nov-12 17:54:34

I think we can pull out much better slebs than that for our campaign.

(Although I could get a message to Bob as it happens.)

FivesAndNorks Sat 24-Nov-12 17:54:54

Yes, and I think for the first day or so you'd think "ooo, wonder what she said?" then you'd adjust and your eyes would skim over it - you'd barely register

EdnaScoggins Sat 24-Nov-12 17:57:27

I would never wonder what they said. Their opinion would be of no consequence to me. That's why I want Hide Poster. Less waste of space on threads I find interesting.

FivesAndNorks Sat 24-Nov-12 17:59:40

like the "message deleted by mumsnet" - my brain fills that in with "post you can't read"

EdnaScoggins Sat 24-Nov-12 18:05:29

Instead of a blank space, it could read:

"Never you mind about this!" or

"Move on! There's nothing to see here!"

Or it could just show a picture of a kitten.

wannaBe Sat 24-Nov-12 18:06:57

it is a ridiculous idea. I moderate on a site where this function exists, and when it was first implemented there were certain antagonistic users who hid everyone who dared to disagree with them. Except they then used to read the boards prior to logging in, so as to see what was being saiid about them, then log in to post about how wonderful it was to not be able to read ignorant bullshit on their chosen forum...

Anyone who believes this would reduce trolls and troll hunting is delusional. Because not everyone would use the facility - there are plenty of people who wouldn't hide posters but who would instead just stay to argue with trolls as they already do. The troll policy is already to ignore and report and yet no-one abides by it, so why would this be any different. We have a hide thread facility already and it's clear that people don't use it to avoid being upset by posters.

We are all adults here, no-one can upset you that much that you are incapable of tabbing past their posts. If you are seriously that upset by strangers on the internet then perhaps you need to rethink whether you should be the one posting on it.

EdnaScoggins Sat 24-Nov-12 18:09:11

No kittens then. sad

FivesAndNorks Sat 24-Nov-12 18:10:40

I loke "Oi never you mind"
Wannabe, I'm not convinced I'd care that much. I know what they're going to say, same old crap, it just wouldn't be there right in my face. I can ignore, but this would be an enhancement - why not do it?

EdnaScoggins Sat 24-Nov-12 18:11:59

"The troll policy is already to ignore and report and yet no-one abides by it, so why would this be any different?"

What would you suggest then, wannaBe?

BlameItOnTheCuervHoHoHo Sat 24-Nov-12 18:12:49

I would only hide posters that I just cant get on with. I like debate, its fun. And I can argue with one person on one thread then fart around, talking about frogs with them on another thread. But some posters just wind me up. And vice versa. And if we are on the same thread it turns into sniping and axe-grinding. No matter how hard I try to ignore. How is that good for the site and other posters?

Imagine low blood pressure
I wonder if you can
No need for bold or caps lock
A sisterhood of mn
Imagine all the posters
Sharing all the site

Woah hooooooh

chorus

FivesAndNorks Sat 24-Nov-12 18:13:49

yes exaclty Cuervo. I have no problem with debate. It's not people who disagree with me that I'd hide.

FivesAndNorks Sat 24-Nov-12 18:14:35

and it's not trolls either. i find them quite entertaining, plus they never post as the same person twice* so you'd be able to hide the thread if you really wanted to.

*with notable exceptions

Mintyy Sat 24-Nov-12 18:15:49

wannaBe Sat 24-Nov-12 19:13:05

well, I think tbh it depends on the kinds of troll we're talking about.

I think the clearly wind up trolls should just be reported and ignored, but the damaging trolls, the dizzymares of this world should be called on their troll-worthyness publicallly - and yes, I realise this is against policy, however truth be told it's actually almost impossible to verify that a troll is a troll, and usually by the time mn hq have acted (if they even do act) the damage has already been done and vulnerable posters have been sucked in.

Another downside to a hide poster option is that trolls will just hide the posts of those who disagree with them, and possibly even encourage other supportive posters to do the same thus making it easier to troll on the basis of "if you don't like what I have to say, you can just ignore me"

EdnaScoggins Sat 24-Nov-12 19:17:26

I know some people do agree with your second para, wannaBe. But if that has become policy, Talk Guidelines and T&C should be changed so people know what's going on.

EdnaScoggins Sat 24-Nov-12 19:18:14

What did dizzymare do? Is she now banned?

wannaBe Sat 24-Nov-12 19:27:42

dizzymare joined just before announcing she'd discovered she was unexpectedly pregnant even though she and her partner had recently split. Lots of to-ing and fro-ing as to whether she should keep the baby, lots of support given. then she discovered it was twins, again, lots of support, then complications in pregnancy and lots of late night posts etc. Meanwhile she had befriended several posters, all of whom had, quite coincidentally lost a twin either shortly after birth or at some point, and others who had lost babies. Then she was rushed into hospital with bleeding and texted a mn'er to tell her this, which was then announced on here, twins were born early and died, and then she was back posting on mn as soon as she was out of hospital. lots of disjointed posts at the height of the drama, lots of things that didn't add up and inconsistencies in postings, etc etc. Eventually someone had the balls to speak out and say that they didn't think she was what she claimed and she was subsequently banned.

Subsequent to that she joined bereavement sites, posted suicide threats on fb (where she had a picture of her dead babies), and at some point down the line someone from another site challenged her on the fact that the pictures of her babies had actually been lifted from the internet and she admitted she'd made the whole thing up.

And the problem with these types of trolls is that they are almost never banned until someone speaks out against them. People had been reporting dizzymare for weekks and mn were powerless to do anything about it.

EdnaScoggins Sat 24-Nov-12 19:31:13

Surely that's someone who's mentally ill, not a troll?

BlameItOnTheCuervHoHoHo Sat 24-Nov-12 19:36:29

I agree with your stance on trolls, fwiw, I wouldn't hide a dizzymare type. I don't post onthread anymore apart from a "wow, v dramatic, maybe seek proper help" and report, report, report until mnhq are sick of me and hide me I would keep them open to gather "evidence" that's how they are caught.

The abusive/stirry trolls are different. Report then hide. That way I wouldn't get dragged into a row with credulous fools and/or the troll.

BlameItOnTheCuervHoHoHo Sat 24-Nov-12 19:38:16

Nope. A troll. She may be ill, but still a troll and bloody dangerous.

Everlong Sat 24-Nov-12 20:04:02

dizzy caused huge upset, worse than upset to some dear mnetters, people who tried to help her but in the end were left very hurt by it all.

She may have been ill but predominately she was a dangerous troll.

EdnaScoggins Sat 24-Nov-12 20:17:44

I've kind of lost track now of how that relates to a Hide Poster function. confused

I could really do with this now, MNHQ.
I'm feeling a bit stalked and goaded and if I could ignore that I'd be far happier...

Everlong Sat 24-Nov-12 20:24:00

Edna hide button to stop trolling. Not that it would mind.

MrsDeVere Sat 24-Nov-12 20:29:37

Who said that?

(a ha ha ha ha ha haaa)

EdnaScoggins Sat 24-Nov-12 20:29:41

Oh, yeah, I thought it would help because of teh proliferation of trolls.

But that's only a side issue. I would like it anyway because I think it would IMPROVE the culture here.

wannaBe Sat 24-Nov-12 20:35:35

it relates because A, the trolls would hide those who challenged them, B, many of the trolls' supporters (and these dangerous trolls do have many supporters) would hide the outers thus meaning that it would be less likely to be believed if doubts were expressed over posters' authenticity.

as for wanting to ignore certain posters it really is easy, don't read their posts...

MrsDeVere Sat 24-Nov-12 20:35:41

Ahem.
I made a joke.

<sulks>

wannaBe Sat 24-Nov-12 20:36:49

also more offensive posts would be left to stand because instead of reporting users would just hide them.

EdnaScoggins Sat 24-Nov-12 20:39:29

I don't think that last point is right, wannaBe. People report offensive posts because it's wrong to allow them to stand, not because they are personally offended. It's like picking litter up from the street or removing racist graffiti.

wannaBe Sat 24-Nov-12 20:45:03

yes but if a particular poster regularly posts offensive posts then people will eventually hide said poster, so the people who would ordinarily report wouldn't see the offensive posts to report them.

Mintyy Sat 24-Nov-12 20:53:09

Who have you hidden then Mrs DV?

<plays along>

And are you coming to the Christmas do or what?

Maryz Sat 24-Nov-12 20:58:31

Look, forget about this hide poster crap.

We need an "explode poster" button.

If a certain number of posters press it, a message goes to mnhq and that poster goes poof, never to be seen again.

I don't want to hide people (tempting as it may be), I want to kill them.

MrsDeVere Sat 24-Nov-12 21:02:40

Never mind me Mintyy are YOU coming along? They was looking for you earlier...

Everlong Sat 24-Nov-12 21:03:26

Yeah... I like that exploding idea.

But it could cause a few gangs dontcha think?

MrsDeVere Sat 24-Nov-12 21:06:25

<shows self up>

Mintyy Sat 24-Nov-12 21:06:51

Was they? I am coming.

BlameItOnTheCuervHoHoHo Sat 24-Nov-12 21:09:58

Link the hide to report? So when you click you get:

Do you wish to report this poster?
*no
*yes

Why?

Enough people hide/report mnhq get a better idea of the troublesome posters. Likewise if they change names and are still being hidden/reported.

Everlong Sat 24-Nov-12 21:10:44

Bucket of piss water button wink

Maryz Sat 24-Nov-12 21:13:20

Ah, who cares Everlong.

We'll just chuck in a "only explode if Maryz says so" and we'll be fine.

Stomp on their toys?

Maryz Sat 24-Nov-12 21:14:07

No, MrsDV, punch poster is fine.

Maryz Sat 24-Nov-12 21:14:49

But my biggest problem is that I keep forgetting the names of the complete gobshites. I keep meaning to keep a list, and then forgetting because of the wine

MrsDeVere Sat 24-Nov-12 21:15:05

Yes, they were saying 'is Mintyy coming' etc.

I think. Umm. Or were you saying 'where is xxx?'

blush

BlameItOnTheCuervHoHoHo Sat 24-Nov-12 21:15:12

Mnhq should let us run the site for a day.

We'd be so good.

Everlong Sat 24-Nov-12 21:16:20

Yeah indeed, tiswas stylee.

grin

Maryz Sat 24-Nov-12 21:16:25

Yes, Cuervo. And fair and reasonable, of course. We would have roooools.

ChippingInLovesAutumn Sat 24-Nov-12 21:18:52

Does anyone else ever want to know if it's THEM that people are wanting to hide sad blush

Once upon a time I wanted a Hide Poster button, sOOOOOOOOOOOO badly, but in the end I decided it wouldn't matter if I had one or not, I am TOO bloody nosey and couldn't like with not knowing what was being said, even by twattertwatchops grin

MrsDeVere Sat 24-Nov-12 21:18:55

mintyy i just checked. They said they were gonna track you down and make you squeal like a pig shock

<grass>

ChippingInLovesAutumn Sat 24-Nov-12 21:20:35

Everlong Sat 24-Nov-12 21:24:01

Cahooots Sat 24-Nov-12 21:30:30

Every time this comes up I have to post as I REALLY REALLY REALLY would love to be able to have the ability to hide posters.

Please, thanks.

Everlong Sat 24-Nov-12 21:32:30

Cahooots Sat 24-Nov-12 21:34:33

hmm ???????

Maryz Sat 24-Nov-12 21:36:03

Everlong Sat 24-Nov-12 21:46:43

Yep your right. If you're on here frequently ( which I am ) there will be people who at best wind you up and worse seriously fuck you off. It's getting your head around it and learning how to avoid them. Either by hiding a thread they're on or staying away from it.

I think on the whole though it's not that big a problem.

The amount of people that I like is huge compared to the two few I'm not that keen on wink

FivesAndNorks Sat 24-Nov-12 22:00:57

stop talking about the meet up. We're nit all down south, its not fair

blondieminx Sat 24-Nov-12 22:05:51

Just popping on to say that I'd like a hide poster option too.

And that I don't understand the manatee name either feels blonde ... Some kindly soul please enlighten me and santastrapon smile

We could have a great meet up in Dublin. I could host it.

Maryz Sat 24-Nov-12 22:34:49

I will organise a mnmeet in Dublin.

We can all get pissed and go on the Viking splash. Like a hen party without the fluffiness.

wannaBe Sat 24-Nov-12 22:35:26

chipping I too would want to see what had been posted. I know this because whenever I see the "message deleted" message I want to know what it was that was deleted.... grin

I'm fairly sure there are plenty (most even) posters who would want to hide me, but in truth I don't care.

MrsDeVere Sat 24-Nov-12 22:36:30

I want to go to Dublin.

Everlong Sat 24-Nov-12 22:39:03

Everlong Sat 24-Nov-12 22:54:08
