I am going to moan about the pagination again.

Now, I'm fully aware that I can log on and personalise my page so that pages do not appear. Most of the time though, I want to quickly read messages without logging in.

I'm still wrestling with the pages. Sometimes if I press 'previous' nothing happens. Sometimes if I request the page number, nothing happens and sometimes when I press first, nothing happens. It's driving me up the fecking wall.

Please go back to how it was. I'm an oldie and can't cope with changes.

I'll join you Jalopy - I've had the same issues, especially when I'm using my mobile. Plus it's meaning I am downloading more than I would if it was just on one page (due to ads etc on the page being reloaded everytime.)

Me too, it's a PITA.

I hate the pages and the directions (next, previous, first, last) never seem to mean what I think they mean.

I now have to log in every time which is a pita.

Same here, I have to log in every time (it's set to keep me logged in but doesn't) so that I can re-do 'customise' without pages. It won't seem to stick at what I set it at.

I completely agree. As a habitual lurker, it's a bore having to log in!

Yes I hate new format too. Have to log in to manage to read a thread properly otherwise pages are the wrong way round and "previous", "last" etc do not seem to work the way I feel they should!

I agree. Sorry to whoever devised this but I have to log in or I get a huge square with the OP but only about 6 posts per page and I get all muddled with which way I am going.
Is it a ploy to make sure we log in every time; does it boost your numbers or something?

But surely it wouldn't be a problem if the 'keep me logged in until I log out' thing was working properly, which it obviously isn't if we are all having to log in every time.

OliviaMumsnet, we're not moaning, we're providing constructive feedback

Hello,
Thank you for your constructive feedback . Some thoughts:

  1. We're going to add a show all button so you can switch easily to seeing the whole thread without having to log in. This is a few weeks away however as BigTech's on his hols.

  1. Everyone gets logged out when we have to restart the server. That's happened a few more times than usual lately (about a couple of times a week) because our server's creaking a bit. Good news is that we have a new server and YetMoreTech is gearing up to installation so hopefully that will stop happening so much.

  1. We're going to change the way pagination shows as default to read down like a book - which is how it used to be - and that should be easier to follow.

Many cheers.
