I'ts the Christmas Carol ad on the homepage which irritates me.
I get onto the homepage, then normally I click Active on the panel. But the ad has got a little pop up thing next to it so I have to go superquick to click on Active. It's quite an effort you know to be that sharp.

ffSAKE i really hate that kid. i'm off from mn until she pisses the fuck off.
Possibly they think we don't spend enough time with children and are just reminding us what children look like.
It's doing my head in.

this is why I love MN - on which other parenting website would you see a thread entitled with violence towards kids AND find others in full support
Aitch - am right there with you!
God yes, please put a 'blank' option over it. It does my head in.

In case her mum is reading, I do want to truthfully say that she is adorable, lovely in every way, despite the annoyingness of the ad.

I think the key is to click on something else as quickly as possible so you get another ad.

Quick!
Refresh! Refresh! Refresh!
It's actually a subliminal test of our reactive speeds. Nowt to do with advertising, it's a government research project, don't you know.

They are missing the whole point aren't they? Cbeebies is something we stick the children infront of so we can MN we do NOT want to see bloody annoying cbeebies children waving at us whilst we are mn'ing.

If it was my own child waving at me constantly on my screen i'd find it annoying. In fact that is the most annoying thing about it, it attracts my kids to the computer.

Nowt wrong with the child. The problem is someone has filmed her and put her on a sodding ad on MN.
I wonder how they measure the success of these ads?
And whether they take any notice of feedback like this?

this on the other hand may be slightly extreme!
As a licence payer, can we request the BBC to display an advert which is a blank box, just saying that the BBC supports Mumsnet.
It's our money isn't it (well I suppose the BBC will say it isn't, but if we didn't pay it, they would soon be getting in touch to demand it!).
Can MNHQ invite the Ad Campaign manager of BBC Cbeebies onto Mumsnet to chat with us about the purpose of thier adverts. Currently they just seem to be annoying people, rather than encouraging us to do something - what are they trying to achieve?
Mumsnet I can see needs the income... so are not going to turn advertisers away, but the adverts need to be relevant to the target audience otherwise we won't click... we will just get upset and start threads moaning about the ad.

Tis a bit like selling snow to the eskimos as well innit?
Erm she'll be gawn by end of month and we've already told the BBC lot what you think of them - so hopefully they won't ever think of sending them our way again is all I can say.
In the meantime can we appease you with Gabrielle Palmer?
Hang on... maybe the BBC wants us to moan about the ad? Maybe that is their aim... we moan about it, we chat with our RL and MN friends about it, so in doing that we are spreading the word that the BBC are trying to promote something on CBeebies.
