penguinmum's creamy fish pie: smoky, seasonal fish in a creamy white sauce with grated, rather than mashed, tatties on top - a meal of the highest comfort-food order.

My Threads Keep Flipping

(14 Posts)
For the past few days my threads keep coming up backwards, although I had them set to read like a book, I now haave to Customise my settings every time I come onto Mumsnet, and again if I open another window then come back to Mumsnet in the same 'sitting' I also have to Log In each time, and Log In when I want to go into Threads I Started etc, even though I have been a member for a long time now and never had to do any of this before.

Could you please tell me what I need to do to change the settings to what I would like on a permanent basis? Thanks.
or even your blush
Oh good!

Shall pass you thanks on lsa2

Hi just to say that everything seems to be back to normal now with all my settings and options, thank you very much for sorting it out for me.
Sounds like the www/no www problem again - I see you are still not redirecting to only one, and still setting cookies for www.mumsnet.com so visits to www.mumsnet.com and mumsnet.com will have different settings, including logged in / not logged in.

I'm not logged in all the time but when am not logged in it seems totally random whether my threads start from the top or the bottom!
Hmm, that does sound odd.

You shouldn't be able to see your Customised options unless you've logged in.

But once you've logged in (and ticked the Remember Me box), you shouldn't have to log in again.

We'll ask the Techs to look at that for you.

Hi yes I actually HAVE to log in before I am able to access any function on Mumsnet now, and even once I have logged in to be able to Customise I then have to log in again before I can get into Threads I Started/Threads I'm On etc. If I mimimise Mumsnet to go onto another site then come back to Mumsnet I have to Log In again and reset my threads to read down like a book.
Ok, stoopid question time: all of your whose threads keep flipping, are you sure you're logged in?

same thing happens to me all the time! It drives me mad- happens on IE and safari sometimes doesnt seem to be any rhyme or reason to it happening either- so I often have to make sure I read the first and last post to a thread to check which is the starting one as threads read backwards can be entertainingly wrong!

So glad someone started a thread on this as I kept meaning too.
Same thing happening to me (and it takes me ages to find 'customise' too but that's my problem not MN's....grin)

Emphasis: To bold a word, surround it with asterisks, so *hello* will display hello. For underline use _ , so _hello_ gives hello. For italics use ^, so ^hello^ gives hello. To strike out a word, surround it with two hyphens either side, so --dog-- gives dog

Links and smileys: To insert a smiley face, , type [smile] or :)
For a big grin, , type [grin] or :o
For a wink, , type [wink]
For a shocked face, , type [shock]
For an angry face, , type [angry]
For an embarrassed face, , type [blush]
For a sad face, , type [sad] or :(
For an envious face, , type [envy]
For a sceptical face, , type [hmm]
For a no comment face, , type [biscuit]

Links The simplest way to insert a link is to enter the link itself, surrounded by [[ and ]]. So if you type [[www.mumsnet.com]], the link will display as http://www.mumsnet.com. If you want your link to display text other than the web address itself, leave a space after the address then add the text before the ]]. So "Look at [[www.mumsnet.com this page]]", would display "Look at this page".
