Perhaps better to ask about ad blocking in the Geeky stuff area...

If it's any help, there's an add-on for Firefox which stops 'Flash' items from running (they are quite common on websites, unfortunately).

I find some Flash items a nuisance as they start playing music, or are highly animated or 'cover' some portion of the screen when you accidentally move the mouse over some part of a web page.

Only one of my PCs even has Flash on it, because it has been used for viruses etc, and the one with it on has the Flash blocker. It shows a button marked "F" so if I want to, I can use it (eg on YouTube) but it stops me seeing an awful lot of distracting ads, etc.

Aha! Got 'em!

Aw, they're quite sweet really, aren't they?
Erm, they're only going to be here for less than a month. Any complaints to gerry@mumsnet.com <<scarpers stage left>>.

Links The simplest way to insert a link is to enter the link itself, surrounded by [[ and ]]. So if you type [[www.mumsnet.com]], the link will display as http://www.mumsnet.com. If you want your link to display text other than the web address itself, leave a space after the address then add the text before the ]]. So "Look at [[www.mumsnet.com this page]]", would display "Look at this page".
