Are you still getting your MN newsletters and roundups?

Hello.

It seems a fair few of you are no longer getting our weekly Parenting News emails and/or Talk Roundups (assuming you opted to be sent them in the first place).

We suspect there may be some gremlins in the MNHQ email-sending-out machine - which we working hard to fix - but, if you've noticed an outrageous absence of MN fun in your inbox lately, it's definitely worth:

  1. Checking your Spam folder. Even if MN stuff's never ended up in there before.

  1. Checking your preferences in My Mumsnet. Click on Email options - and check you've selected to receive what you want to receive.

Then click on Your details - have you got a message in red, saying previous attempts to email you have failed? If you have, try just clicking Save Changes (it can't hurt!)

  1. See if you can tweak your Spam settings. If you use Aol, Hotmail or Yahoo, we have some suggestions for you here

  1. Sign up for a Google Gmail account - it's free and they have a good track record of accepting Mumsnet's emails.

  1. Emailing us at [email protected] and having a good moan. We may not be able to wave a magic newsletter wand but we'll try.

Oh, and there's no Parenting News this Thursday but there is a Talk Roundup this Friday.

I got the red box ages ago, although my e-mail address is right,
then all of a sudden I got a parenting news,
now no more and a red box again

I get round up but sod all else.

If you are BT Internet btw, you have to add mumsnet to your online address book and it'd be quite helpful if you did, cos they block anything now that comes to more than about 500 people with an @btinternet.com address! But if lots of people have the correct addresses in their mail address books online, they are added to the whitelist!

Perhaps Helen could post the correct addresses for us to add so we do it right

Klaw - can you still use the @googlemail.com address. I thought everyone had ported to gmail.com now (could this explain your issue?)

Report
pinkteddy · 11/08/2009 23:03

I've not received it for months and I've followed all the suggestions. I will try the address book suggestion if we can have the correct address(s) to add?

"ported to gmail.com" ??

you'll need to explain in words of one syllable for the elderly

I've got a googlemail account which is working absolutely fine. So is my gmail account. I still don't get the parenting news!

I get the round up but not the parenting news. I used to get the parenting news but then I decided to opt to get the round up as well and for some reason my parenting news has stopped. Both are selected as yes, I do want to receive them.

It is definitely not going to my junk mail/spam account either as I check that daily before I delete anything.

I have also got MN on my safe list.

It is a bit weird but having checked everything and reinput it just to be on the safe side, I shall see if it makes a difference.

Nope, not getting anything anymore, done the above except the e-mail accout, too much faff to have an extra account just for that.

Klaw - Google changed from @googlemail.com email addresses to @gmail.com about three years ago I believe. So instead of using [email protected], you can use [email protected] and eventually the [email protected] address stops working.

I don't know when they are stopping the googlemail.com addresses but I used to have that format and now have @gmail.com for mine because they told me too (and I occasionally do as I'm told ).

It's worth pointing out you use Google to forward to your regular email account automatically for mumsnet emails (don't set it to forward all - you'll just end up with spam). Just set up a rule to do so.

I haven't received either for ages and ages. Have just reset my email preferences. How often do the child development things get sent, because I haven't had those for ages either.

I get the round-up but haven't had the parenting news or the child development stuff for months. I tried all the suggestions above, except for setting up a new email account, but nothing worked.

I don't get Parenting News even though I'm signed up, but I do get the Round Up. I'm on my own email domain using doteasy.

I've not had either for a while (since I got the last roundup saying there would be a summer break) and I assumed it was just a summer break. I'll check on Friday - it's the highlight of my week!

I have just checked and had a red box though the settings seemed to be correct. I thought it had been a while!

How often are the child development emails meant to come, I had one at 9 months so when should I expect the next one?

I've just checked my registration details and e-mail status and have discovered that I am down to receive everything you could possibly throw at me! However, I have never received anything other than the round-up and the news thing. Weird huh?

Not too sure what I've received in the last couple of weeks though. (I get sooooooo many e-mails [sigh])

Ah now that's interesting Helen because I've just spoofed a header from [email protected] and it failed to get through - so I reckon you are tripping the spam filters at btinternet at least.

Also, my talk roundups when they do arrive are delayed at least 24 hours so I reckon you are blacklisted.

Happy to receive test messages btw if you want to do any testing

wmmc - I've only been on googlemail less than a year & got a googlemail address.
I can log in to my inbox with either @gmail or @googlemail, (though I've noticed that the Google toolbar autofill thing has recently stopped offering @googlemail as an option for my login, though it still does when I log in to other sites including MN). When I log in, it has name@googlemail at the top

But I just tried sending test emails from hotmail to both gmail & googlemail & only the googlemail one got through.

I think I am getting everything I should from MNHQ - news, round-up & I also got the holiday suggestions (I might actually try some on my bored can't-get-a-holiday-job student DD )

I use a Yahoo account, did get the emails sent into spam but then just marked 'em as "not spam" and they've arrived in my inbox ever since. So no probs here.
