lovea- do you have to make something up to put a slant on things? to print half stories or generally mislead? Course not.

Does it need to detail the benefit payments of someone in a story that is about something very different? Of course not.

The Daily Hate Mail regularly make shit up - and if they're not making it up then they're manipulating "facts" to suit they're own dubious ends.

Google "Daily Mail lies" - it even comes up as a suggestion on Safari, which says a lot!

As with all newspapers it's about how the balance of articles is presented. Giving unnecessary weight to a "non-story" about immigration or health scares is as misleading as inventing facts out of thin air. They will grab one quote or out-of-context "fact" and weave a story around it. What is at the heart of the story may to some extent be true, but the way in which it is presented gives an untrue impression.

One fine example recently was the woman police chief quoted as saying that her force had its work cut out coping with the 300 languages spoken in their area. This is undeniably a new challenge for the police. She wasn't using that as a way of saying the speakers of these languages shouldn't be here, and the police chief undeniably said that - but how she said it, what else she said, and the good work being done in community policing in different communities were all aspects conspicuously ignored by the mail "journalist."

The result is that someone like my mother then cuts this article out, highlights particular juicy phrases and clips it together with a bunch of others to send to me, to "prove" her agenda that immigration is slowly destroying our country via "invasion".

The Daily Mail is curious, isn't it? It's aimed at women, yet is constantly attacking women. It's worse, more invidious, than other rags, because it pretends to be a serious paper.

And now it's ripping us off too!
